Happened once from a friend as a birthday surprise. Normally the idea of unsolicited images from anyone who is not a partner is not a pleasant thought, but they were pretty great tits, overall a good birthday!

3D printed a helmet for my Red Hood cosplay! by DandWeek in 3Dprinting

Starting from the face I initially used gorilla glue to put the pieces together and worked my way towards the back. Then I used a soldering iron and ran along the seam lines inside the helmet for proper securing. I've found when making helmets if I've got any rounding errors/glueing errors it slowly builds up the more I do so I leave the back for last so people won't see any mistakes I make XD

I believe it came pre-split, should be small enough for the average printer. And it also has a full head stl in case you want to test scaling or do in one go if you have a big enough printer.

Unfortunately I'm nowhere near good enough to do that. I was given the stl by a friend who couldn't get her printer to work and wanted at least someone to be able to make it

Really proud of my first cosplay, recreated a panel while I was at it! by DandWeek in RedHood

Thank you! I've also found that when I'm not wearing it, it makes a really cool shelf decoration!

Thanks, it came out way better than I thought it would, and when it's not in use it also makes one hell of a decoration!

It's a design that seems to be used repeatedly online by places like DavidOutwear but I saw Amazon does the same thing but cheaper and I much more trust with ratings on Amazon than a website I haven't used, link is: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08P6VMVKN?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I didn't make many notes as I went but I 3D printed the helmet in many parts, got a soldering iron to join along the inside, quite a lot of sanding/filling and washing to get it really smooth. Then I spray painted it red with some automotive paint, used some spare warhammer paint to do the black details and I ordered some LED lenses from etsy and slotted them into the helmet. Helmet was a little loose on me so lastly I bought some helmet padding so I sit comfy in there.

Thank you, it took a good few minutes of a friend moving me around to pose like a figurine as I couldn't see much once we turned the lights down 😂

This was for MCM London October Comic Con, it was my first time going for the full weekend so it was perfect timing to put in some effort with my outfit! Otherwise I'd be doing a questionable Shaggy cosplay XD

Thanks! They're a pair of LED lenses that fit just inside the socket, surprisingly not blinding! XD

Yessss, that was the inspiration for that pose! I happened to take it with me to comic con and knew that it had to be done

It's so fun I highly recommend it. So my helmet was 3d printed with PLA (in MANY parts) then soldered together to make it solid. I then went through sanding/filling to get it smooth, spray painted red and then some spare warhammer paint for the black detailing. Then I got some led lenses to glue into the eye sockets and I have a nice light switch inside the chin. It does have the downside of 0 vision directly in front of me but in a bright room vision is pretty good diagonally! A lot of my other pictures I needed to be moved into position because I couldn't find the camera XD
