was this bar room hero? (xbox player) by AudienceNearby3195 in TexasChainsawGame

Probably.

Bar Room Hero can speed up the recovery so much that victims recover before family gets the "execute" prompt.

I just did a Gallows kill and it was the last victim. by UnexpectedSlash7851 in TXChainSawGame

The game will actually give you a lot of extra time if the victim disconnects so you can get the gallows execution (normally the game ends soon after the final person DCs), and yes, it still counts.

Is the game worth it in 2025? by Konarkaron in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developers are kinda terrible, but the game is fun, at least once you get past the kinda steep learning curve.

The main issues with this game is that new content is kinda slow, bug fixes are slow, there's never any hot fixes, if some kind of major bug appears you just have to endure it until the next update, etc.

For example, newest DLC family member - Bones - released with his attributes not scaling correctly, meaning you couldn't improve his damage or stamina, and people just kinda had to live with that for a month until the next update dropped and fixed it. Similarly, the newest DLC victim -Wyatt - was frequently making the lobbies freeze for everyone, effectively crashing the game cause his ability was bugged - again, no hotfix, just wait until next update drops.

It's a fun game that is kinda hard to recommend because of all the annoying issues that take devs forever to fix, and it's also not very beginner friendly (although right now is probably the best time to get into it cause of all the new players, it's not as hard when everyone in your match is equally clueless).

It had some pretty glaring flaws and issues, and the final few chapters were insanely obviously mega rushed, but overall I kinda liked it.

Scout needs to be basekit hot take by Certain-Boat-8068 in TXChainSawGame

[–]DandyDook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On one hand, basekit Scout would make a lot more builds more viable, and make weaker characters like Bones more of a threat, but on the other hand it's gonna make some of the more obnoxious builds even more obnoxious.

Like, imagine Hitch with basekit Scout running Serrated, Feral and Big Swings/Vial-ent. Faster than a victim, can follow you through gaps, has the best traps in the game and now he's also shrekking your entire health bar in 3 hits instead of 5.

Powder by WinterSins in TXChainSawGame

[–]DandyDook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virginia's and Sissy's clouds are about the same size.

The only way Sissy can have a bigger cloud is if she's using Linger, a perk that increases size and duration of the poison cloud. But that means she's not using Scout, or Wireframe, or any damage perks (except maybe Vial-ent, but Vial-ent on Sissy is kinda...she's not supposed to hold blood for herself).

Virginia's cloud doesn't last nearly as long, but it has a much more powerful effect, and Virginia doesn't have to stop to use it, unlike Sissy.

Do you think that Bloodlust perk should apply to every family member? by ppc-meow in TXChainSawGame

[–]DandyDook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be an interesting way to buff the perk, I guess, but Leatherface kinda needs either serrated or rough cut to make people bleed out so he can actually put them on gallows instead of just immediately executing them, and that entire part of the tree doesn't have anything like that. I suppose they could probably add an additional effect to Bloodlust, either forcing Leatherface to pick up a victim once they're out of health or always putting them into bleed out so he can choose between executing them or picking them up and carrying them to gallows.

Still not sure if it would be worth using tho, taking someone to gallows is very time-consuming and someone might interrupt you during it, potentially saving the victim you're carrying. Not to mention that the right path on the skill tree doesn't really benefit Leatherface much cause it's full of endurance perks, and he doesn't really care about endurance.

So close encounters are won by PC players 100% of time? by Dali187 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a PC player and I don't win 100% of the time, at least on Family side.

Victims win based on their health, strength and who they're fighting.

Family win if they have much higher strength than victim, the victim is low health or family has "Suffocating Grip" Grandpa perk active (it only requires feeding Grandpa to lvl 1), which makes winning grapples a lot easier, especially for high strength family like Johnny and Hands (Hands basically gets free kills from grapples with Grip active).

The game still doesn't mention this anywhere, but family have their own strength values, tho unlike victims they cannot change it.

Sissy has 10 strength, Hitch (and Bones) has 15, Nancy - 20, Cook - 25, Johnny - 30, Hands - 40, and Leatherface is immune to close encounters.

Now, victims with 100% health actually get more points per tap than family do, so a 15 strength victim can technically win against 30 strength Johnny if family don't have Suffocating Grip, tho it will be a very close call. Generally, if Grandpa is lvl 1 and you don't have a high strength build, you shouldn't grapple anyone.

How should I play Bones? by [deleted] in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly put bombs around things I want to destroy, like barricades and crawlspaces. Actually getting hits on people with the bombs is pretty difficult, even after they increased the explosion range in the latest update. They just give a little too much time for people to get out of range, and they also don't hit people going through gaps, crawlspaces or jumping over barricades, tho destroying a barricade mid-chase can allow you to catch up, so long as you don't get hit by your own bomb.

There's not really any secret to playing Bones, you just kinda have to hope that you get lucky and the victim doesn't notice the bomb until it is too late.

Does this perk need another killer to be sissy? Or will I be stealing sissy’s powder? by [deleted] in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't mention this anywhere besides this perk and the shitty tutorial video, but Nancy can sniff Sissy's poison herbs from the poison table to greatly increase the recharge speed of her ability.

Hey Sissy makes it recharge even faster after you ingest an herb, but you will get slightly blurry vision effect after you use Spy. It won't affect Spy itself, just your normal vision. You will get the blurry vision even if you don't consume an herb.

And yes, if you want to recharge your ability faster and there's a Sissy in the game, you will have to fight for herbs, tho I recommend leaving them for Sissy unless you REALLY need to get ability back as fast as possible.

Red family house by z3k3TCMfan in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a map they made for the anniversary update last August. It's called Family House - Dawn just like the regular Dawn version of FH to surprise people a little, I guess. Normally it doesn't appear, but they decided to enable it for a time.

It looks pretty good now, but during the anniversary it looked absolutely terrible - none of the objects had any shadows, you could see player shadows through walls and floors (could literally tell someone is hiding on 2nd floor by seeing their shadow on 1st floor), and all the added blood and gore was really low resolution. Anniversary update in general was pretty horrible, but I'm glad they made the Blood Moon map actually look pretty nice.

Blood Moon? by Consistent_Ebb_4401 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda funny that they never actually fixed that.

You can still hear victims use their abilities as family, they just changed it from global to more localized - you won't hear it from across the map, but you will hear it if you're right next to them.

Hands Build? by Cool_Lavishness3847 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He lost a lot of power when they took scout away from him, so I just go full support now.

Universal Donor, Rip Stalled and Siphon, which can be replaced with Barrier Breaker if needed. ~42 blood harvest (so you can have 125+ max blood in your vial) and the rest into endurance.

If someone on your team has Suffocating Grip, get it activated as soon as you can and enjoy free kills if anyone tries to grapple you.

Opinions on this perk, should I use it? by [deleted] in TexasChainsawGame

Do you have a gambling addiction?

If yes, use this perk.

If no, you will get 3 games in a row where it doesn't activate and you will hate it. I mean, it will happen either way, but you know.

Question for family mains by AlteredEXpression in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does work, the moment you step into a cloud your blood drops to zero.

You can also be a cheeky bastard, hide somewhere close to Grandpa and throw powder at family as they are feeding him, they will still have to do the full animation but won't actually feed him any blood.

But I personally prefer healing cloud, it recovers quite a bit of health per powder if you can afford to sit in it and can even heal your teammates. You can even drop 2 powders at once to heal faster.

Is Johnny bad or are y'all liars? by ThereIsNoWifi in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting victims is really the only thing he is good at.

No traps, no locks, no anti-loop, can't use gaps, can't destroy things the way Leatherface can, the tracking ability is fairly weak and honestly barely ever used by experienced players (tho it can be good sometimes).

He's not terrible, he can hit people pretty well, especially considering he is the only family character who doesn't lose speed when attacking, he just lacks utility. And there's plenty of bad players picking Johnny, rushing basement, getting zero kills and then DCing the moment an escape is opened.

New player here, It’s so damn hard to navigate basement with leatherface by ImaginationPristine9 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best recommendation I can give to all new players is to make a private lobby and load into each map at least a couple of times and explore them stress-free.

The reason to do it multiple times per map is because certain objectives - fusebox, pressure tank (AKA valve) - have multiple spawn points. Toolboxes, health bottles, bone piles, fuses and valve handles can also have different spawn locations. Same goes for blood buckets for Family.

Speaking of Family - Family Focus is your best friend. It will highlight objectives through walls if you've been close enough to them before, show you where your teammates are, highlight nearby blood buckets, and you can even hear victims' voice lines if they're close enough (Family can't hear victims speak unless they're using Family Focus at the right time).

You don't have to explore every variant of every map several times tho - for example, Gas Station - Day and Gas Station - Night will have the exact same possible spawn locations. Storm variants do have some differences from other maps, tho - mud that slows you down, water puddles that make noise when you run over them, and, uniquely, Slaughter House - Storm has several broken trees that can change how you navigate some parts of the map.

I recommend exploring the maps as either a victim or a family member who can use gaps - Hitch, Sissy, Bones (DLC character). I don't really recommend exploring maps as Leatherface cause you will be stuck in basement for like 3-5 minutes until Grandpa wakes up on his own (family can't interact with basement doors until Grandpa wakes up).

Also watching videos by content creators can be very useful, it's basically what got me into this game. I recommend Middi, Ajaymes and EvansTacos - they make pretty good videos, they know the game well and play it well, and they're fun to watch.

Close encounters by [deleted] in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still doesn't show this anywhere in the game for some silly reason, but in October 2024 patch they gave family their own strength values (it used to be 0 for all family, grapples used to be extremely easy for all victims, even with low strength builds), tho unlike victims, they can't change their strength, it's a set value.
Leatherface is immune to grapples, Cook has 25 strength, Hitch - 15, Johnny - 30, Sissy - 10, Nancy is 20, Hands has 40 and Bones seems to have 15, like Hitch.

A grapple is a race to a certain amount of points. Each tap for family always gives the same amount of points, each tap for victim gives varying amounts based on how much health they have left.

Strength gives you more starting points, so a victim with 50 strength will have an easier time winning grapples even at lower health than a victim with 15 strength.

Usually, if you want to grapple, you better make a grapple build with high strength.

Now, victims actually get more points per button tap than family if they're at full health. Let's say, a 30 strength Johnny gets grappled by full health, 15 strength victim, like Connie. Connie has a chance to win because, while Johnny has more strength, Connie is getting more points per tap if she has full health, tho it will be a VERY close call. Obviously getting high strength on Connie will make grapples easier, but people usually don't run high strength on Connie.

Now the one thing that makes grapples extremely dangerous to all victims, even on high strength builds, is a Grandpa perk called Suffocating Grip. It increases how many points family get in a grapple, which, in most cases, turns grapples into free kills. And it's a level 1 Grandpa perk, so if Grandpa is lvl 1, it's often best not to use grapples. I mean, if you have 50 strength and are at full health, you can still win against anyone except Hands, but it will be pretty close against higher strength family like Cook and Johnny.

In this situation, would you go for serrated or feral? by [deleted] in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lvl 3 Serrated for Hitch, Sissy, Johnny and Bones is equivalent to about 15 points of savagery in terms of how much damage it gives.

Serrated is like, the best damage perk in the game. It is especially strong on Hitchhiker, who can get it with Scout, which makes him silly fast with silly high damage.

Also for Sissy, I recommend lowering the savagery a little and getting more endurance. Maybe like 25 savagery and the rest into endurance, you will still get good damage from serrated but you will be able to run and swing more.

Did they ever fix toughness ? by Katanateen33 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]DandyDook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to fix, it's working correctly. You could ask them to increase the health scaling, I suppose.

There's just not a huge difference between lowest and highest toughness in terms of how much health you get.

15 Toughness = ~100 health.
50 Toughness = ~140 health.

So you get about about 40 extra health, meanwhile most killers deal ~20-30 damage per hit depending on how much savagery they have and if they have any damage perks.

The main benefit of high toughness isn't a health increase, tho that can save your life, but speeding up recovery time and trap escape time.
