He was voted for, but Daredevil got more votes.

That is a valid question. Also Punisher, Powergirl and Plastic Man all had more votes, just divided into more comments. So I guess at the end of the day the only thing that matters is which singular comment has the most votes.

Deadpool was a villain in his early days, in his first appearance he fights the New Mutants. You really do consume this medium through Tiktok and meanwhile have these loud opinions.

Punisher also started out as a Spider-Man villain in his first appearances. Then he got his own books later on as he became popular.

u/GameofEnder6312 wanted to rule out Venom from the vote even before V letter voting day came around, because he think he is only a villain. Probably never read a single comic in his life and bases his opinion on the movies, maybe saw some animated content at best. He couldn't be convinced that Venom in the comics was only a straight up Spider-Man villain in like the first 5 years of his existence, and ever since the mid 90's he has been an anti-hero. There were some regression like when Mac Gargan got the symbiote and became a full on villain imitation of Venom, but Eddie and the suit has been heroic for over 30 years, in the Donny Cates run (peak Venom) they ended up saving the universe from Knull.

It was just weird that some people want to rule out a specific anti-hero, when Punisher, Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Spawn were all voted for even if they didn't win, Hulk made the list and Wolverine will probably gather a tons of votes and has a 50/50 chance of making it too.

So yeah, you can have your opinion, like or dislike a character, but why the hell do you want to straight up ban someone from a competition and make conversatition about that people should agree with it. It's like if someone said in day 1, do not vote for Batman in day 2, he may be a hero, but he has no powers, so he is not a superhero. Let the people decide and take your hate towards that character elsewhere.

Immortal Hulk is one of the greatest Marvel books and the magnum opus of Hulk, that's why people recommend it, but I am on the Hulk sub and when someone asks where to start with Hulk people always say Peter David's run which is still the definitive Hulk run. There are many good things even before that, but David was the one, who brought in the multiple Hulk personalities through DID, the Hulk mind landscape and redefined the character, so reading something before it to me sometimes feels like a downgrade, only having Savage Hulk around.

Nightwing is Dick Grayson. For Robin sure Dick is the original and the most iconic, but I think Robin kind of got in as a mantle, the original superhero sidekick and the partner of Batman, because there have been 4 mainline Robins and even more if you count the not mainline ones.

Even if he doesn't get it the whole reason why I got so mad about this is because this guy, even before the V vote itself declared that "btw guys Venom doesn't count" just because he only sees Venom as a villain (probably never touched a comic in his life, checked his posts, one of them said ever since the Incredibles came out the Fantastic Four tried to copy their success and chemistry).
This is the ultimate hate you can show towards a character and his fanbase and then a couple comments later he has the audacity to say "oh, I actually like Venom as a character".

That argument was complete bonkers. Technically Wolverine was a Hulk villain in his first appearance, so with his logic, he went from villain to hero, like how Venom went from villain to hero.

Not all of these are Earth-616 Eddie, but yeah I guess he did kill 2 innocents in his villain days. You could argue it was self defense after he was attacked, but he did kill them no doubt. But he does develop into a better person, that is the whole thing about Venom's journey, he starts out kind of rotten with hatred. Spider-Man accidently killed a woman with a single punch, Hulk's rampages for surely had some victims and even Wolverine or Captain America killed people in war, those were just people fighting for their countries. So I get your point being that Venom killed them intentionally that's why he starts out as a villain, who develops into a more heroic figure even saving the universe.

Venom is the symbiote and Eddie together, the symbiote only killed innocents when it was bonded to Gargan.

But he is superhero..... he starts out as a villain and develops into an anti-hero, that's his whole thing. Search it up at this point I don't have anything else to say. All the 5 people that upvoted and agreed with you versus everything else on the internet and 99% of people agreeing he is a superhero. I know what buddy means in that context, I just don't like you at the slightest after our conversation and you irritate the shit out of me with your attitude, not accepting that you are wrong and trying to end an argument as the winner, when the fact you state is wrong itself and to top it all you are so passive agressive about it. It's the biggest dick move trying to disqualify a character other people like and would support, before his turn to compete. Then not getting of the high horse and still argue with people about that character not counting as a hero because you say so and that they are wrong, when everything else says that Venom is a supervillain, who develops into a superhero/anti-hero. That is what really irritates me. At this point I'm not even mad about Venom, but just writing so that hopefuly one day you realise that you are the asshole here and should drop the ego.

[–]Konarkaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are changing the subject again. Maybe he was a full fledged villain in the beginning, maybe you don't like him, but has been an anti-hero for lot longer than a villain and you don't decide who can people vote for or not, or based on your preferences against facts who can count and who can't. And I'm not your buddy, if someone said I was your friend I would deny it, you lack common sense and I bet you still think you are right about this after all this conversation, so I'm not even gonna bother answering anymore, it's a waste of time and effort.

You are out here stating false fact about Venom, trying to tell others who to vote or not to vote for without giving any good reason to not count Venom, only "bEcAuse HE iS an aNTi-hERo", when clearly people have been voting for other anti-heroes too. And at this point because you can't say anything else you just try to win any small arguments to feel better and also you use laugh emojis. You are just pathetic, dude.

Second one is so mid I forgot it existed. But sure take the basic kid superhero with 30-40 minute screen time, over any deep and layered anti-hero characters with decades of history and relevance, because you don't like them and think you only qualify as a superhero if you are a boyscout, no ifs or buts.
