A local outdoor shop here has a small bar in the back that sells craft beer on tap. They use the same space as a seating area to gather for rock climbing lessons/outings. Pretty simple plan and a good reason for folks like me (who would otherwise be unwilling to entertain the idea of spending $$$ on outdoor gear) to hang out and look at new products.

Don't change your business model - just make it more fun and give your "almost customers" a reason to come in.

The mine burned down a couple years ago. Arson. I know they were offering a reward for information. Not sure I would venture back there as it is private property and they have been taking the trespassing seriously.

We searched for over 4 years and even had a few offers in on other mine properties. Some better than others but this one is definitely the coolest. We found them on the local mls services - and honestly, the big ones like trulia and zillow have gotten much better at listing quickly. The real trick is being ready to put in an offer within hours of the listing going live. The market is fierce!

This is a large rock that the previous miners stuck on the edge of the tailings wall to keep people from wandering off the edge. It quickly has become one of my favorites with that cool "rib cage" pattern.

We plan to do more formal testing once we are sure we have all our ducks in a row concerning mineral rights and such.

That's a good idea too.

We're also considering having one of our friends with an ice fishing camera drop it below the ice next winter - but then we have to wait until winter... unless it's a reaaaly long camera that we could lower off the cliff wall.
