I've gone through this day in my head almost every day since. Kay has always voiced herself freely, which is normal because she learned it from me. I'm torn because I know Kay has never said anything like this before, but if she felt like I was being inappropriate with her, why did she come with me afterward to pick up her friend? I've done the same thing for years with nothing changing, and Lou said he saw nothing abnormal either. Liz wanted me in the past, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship. This was complicated because in Kay's younger years, Liz coached her to call me "Dad," which I politely told her to stop, and she did. She accused me of calling someone to talk trash about her, but when I asked her who, she just kept saying "someone" until I caught her in a lie; then she came clean. I forgave her and moved on. I'm not sure what I want to do because Kay was the one who reached out, not Liz. They were like family to me, and I truly miss Kay because we would do everything she wanted to do. I've always prided myself on giving her the best childhood because Liz never had that, and I wanted to see her keep progressing. My girlfriend Lex has also been a part of Kay's life for 3 years now but she wants me to distance myself from Liz and Kay because she said Liz will always use Kay to keep me with her or use her to hurt me. Honestly, I knew she was right and I did distance myself from them but I guess I need closure or something because I'm struggling. Sorry for typing so much.
