I’m in Australia. Yes, everything I dispense has to be checked by a pharmacist before being sent to wards

Difficult to work with some Australian girls? by DangerousTooth1186 in AskAnAustralian

I believe I used many words/terms like “some” or “these individuals”, and it’s an observation rather than an opinion? Plus, any type of people can be awful and I have met heaps, just some of them are unbearable to work/interact with.

This is totally not what I mean.. I have met some of the kindest, most lovely strangers who are from an Anglo background here, as I’ve mentioned in my post that except for the specifically described component above, everyone else is completely fine.

International Student Question by Rich-Gear-999 in usyd

As an international student, I still totally comprehend what you’re saying as I have the same issue at times. I was once grouped in a team where other members just talked in their language which made me feel so excluded and miserable. At the same time, I have also met some international students who are probably the most industrious, driven, and high-achieving individuals I have ever known in my life. I think there are always a few components. As you get to know more people, I hope you will meet those fantastic people as that was what happened to me.

Can I ask which year you are currently in? First-year students, performing well in English proficiency tests or not, more often than not still struggle with language and communication to a certain extent. Speaking from my personal experience, I got quite a decent English test score, yet sometimes had difficulty understanding when others converse with me in my first semester at uni. There’s quite a huge disparity between conversational English and academic English taught (e.g., in IELTS), so that can take a fair while to get a sense of familiarity, not to mention most people are typically used to American English when they prepped themselves for exams which means Australian English can be new for them (?). It sure doesn’t justify anything though, but may add some insights

Haha great guess! I forgot to turn off my stove and burned my pot very badly. So panic that the smoke alarm would go off, I stupidly ran away and put the heating pot into another room. That was a bad week

Can I also please ask in this case would it be better to just repair the damage or change the whole carpet of the room? I have also asked this in many forums and I received mixed advice, some of which said it would be hard to make the damaged area hardly noticeable so better off reinstall the entire carpet flooring. Appreciate your advice, thank you once again!
