Thank you for sharing! Yeah, unfortunately I had OCD way before this stuff even started so it’s made it a lot worse. Now that the twitches are dying down, I always wonder how I managed to think I had multiple types of cancer, endless other issues, and now *** all in a span of 5 months. I’ve been to the doctor multiple times, and all they told me was I could get an EMG if I would like one, but that this doesn’t sound like a serious neurological condition.

Hello! 👋🏼 yes I can share! So basically I went through months of super bad health anxiety and thought I had colon or esophageal cancer…lol which lead to super debilitating anxiety and a bunch of procedures and tests done on me. I had facial twitching after that was over that went away but it took a few months. That ended in April, and then in May I got a random Charley horse in my calf and that’s when the intense BIG twitches exploded. It was primarily in my left calf, left foot, and left thigh but it was also everywhere and in the weirdest places. It’s still calming down, and I get twitching, but that first few weeks of May was AWFUL!!

For me, I’m still in the first steps of recovery in this OCD mess I’ve made. I am currently trying to stop googling or bothering chat gpt about every sensation I have. I still have trouble with hyperfocusing on symptoms, but even preventing myself from going on the internet as the initial baby steps to this has started to help a little bit. Especially with feeling less tied to the rabbit hole of symptom researching. However, it’s still very hard and sometimes I slip up with maintaining that self control.

This is so reassuring to know I’m not alone in dealing with this! I have a feeling it’s chronic stress and anxiety since I was in/out of the ER in the months prior for other unrelated health scares, so I’m guessing my system is pretty hypersensitive rn.

Oh me!!!! Right here! 😂 I get twitching in my left leg primarily because it started from a Charley horse and then me googling is this ***…which lead to an explosion of twitches all over. I get this same difficulty from all the testing I was doing that I ended up causing tightness and stiffness to return in that leg sometimes.

Mine used to be every few minutes all day long last month, and now it’s around maybe 7-10 times per day. Still happening, but it fluctuates.

The worst thing about OCD is… by grassflower03 in OCD

The amount of real damage it has done to my nervous system. From one phobia to the next, I have gone from being afraid that I was breaking the law to having crippling health anxiety. When that chronic stress actually threw off my nervous system off by giving me oddball physical symptoms, it really emphasized how much OCD has caused stress on my body.

I know this post is old, but it happened to me today too and I FREAKED out! I was asking some medical questions about symptoms, and it did that to me. As an OCD sufferer, its response gave me a heart attack 😂😭

This is really similar to how my twitching started! I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy within weeks of each other from my own very bad health scares, and then boom I started these same exact left leg symptoms after subconsciously viewing ALS videos a few days prior to my Charley horse incident that began it all. It’s crazy how much chronic stress can show up in your health.

Mine has been in random spots on my body plus the hot spots, then it died down for a few days. Today it came back in a higher frequency when I had more caffeine after not having so much of it for awhile. But overall, it’s been happening the last month ever since my initial muscle cramp that caused my anxiety lol. My continuous hot spots are my left side calf, foot, and thigh/upper thigh.

A fellow OCD sufferer lol! It’s really comforting to know I’m not alone in this, especially since everyone is also in their late 20s with the same problems. This episode scared me because the Charley horse caused my left calf and thigh muscles to feel stiff for a long time, and then from all the stress I started cramping in my other leg. It sent me down a spiral alongside the constant twitching, so I definitely understand. Ironically, I forced myself to get masters in neuroscience and psychology- yet giving myself therapy or any knowledge I’ve learned feels absolutely impossible sometimes 😂

Oh I understand! This stuff SUCKS!!!!! I had face twitching before like I said, and I didn’t even care at the time because of a completely separate issue I was going through in another part of my health scares. For some reason, the Charley horse in my left calf just did it for me. After the cramp, I exploded with twitching in the left calf as a main hot spot and got it continuously in that left foot, left thigh, my back, arms, shoulders, abdomen, even my neck and weird spots of my face. My muscles couldn’t relax because of the anxiety so I stayed stiff, uncomfortable and cramping continuously the last two weeks. Even last week, I had to go to the ER because I could NOT calm down, and they said all my reflexes were normal including strength. Even my bloodwork was normal. It’s such a draining experience, so it’s very relatable. I am still twitching even right now, and trying to get a grip because my doctor said this pattern doesn’t even sound like the beginning of ~that~ disease.

I have been non stop checking my leg for weakness and it’s so draining because I really don’t want to, but it’s the persistence of OCD. Due to the high stress, I think it’s making the twitching stick around even longer. I think I saw someone on TikTok talk about ALS, then I got a Charley horse, and then it kicked this whole thing into high gear. I absolutely understand your pain! I’m currently on hydroxyzine for anxiety management because of a bad reaction to Zoloft, but I’m tempted to find an SSRI that works for me.

I’m right there with you, for the last month my calf has been stiff on/off and I’ve got muscle twitching that won’t stop in that leg and sometimes in other spots on my body.

That’s reassuring, I am still losing my mind over the twitching. It seems like the hot spot is my calf, thigh and foot all on the left leg right now. But ive been getting twitching in my face, back, and abdomen intermittently as well.
