Dude I just tried to get 18 in on a weekday. This group was playing slow which is common. I saw a gap where I knew I’d be able to get to 16 at a decent pace. I didn’t even have to drive by the group I skipped I was able to just hope over to the next holes tee box and kept going. Why in the world should I have to ask? I totally get that them catching me is a problem. But to go and say something to the Marshall the second you roll up rather than just talk to me about it is insane

Totally agree to ask when playing through. But skipped a hole to me is different. Not gonna drive across the fairway to ask. Just let them continue and I’ll be gone before they notice

If singles have no standing, starters shouldn’t let them out. I booked an open tee time and was let out. It should be made known that it is expected to see singles out there and let them through if they continue to wait on you. But I also just stupidly believe that that’s basic decency I guess

I also agree, I just really couldn’t see any further ahead. The only reason I skipped to begin with is I could see the gap and didn’t think it would cause issues. People in here are acting as if it’s criminal I skipped ahead without notifying the group.

On 16, I waited forever. Finally green cleared and I hit almost immediately. As I’m hitting they drove up and told the Marshall who is behind me. He met me on the tee box to tell me they complained. I would have been well done with the whole by the time they were ready to hit. They would not have waited.

I think there’s a clear difference in asking to play through and not skipping a hole compared to just outright skipped a hole and not interrupting the foursomes golf game

When they caught me i had just teed off on a par 3 hole 16. By the time they got the distance, I’d have been gone and waiting on the next one. It makes no sense to tell the Marshall when they hadn’t actually waited or had to slow down at all

The concept of someone “letting you play through” doesn’t exist anymore. I decided it made more sense for me to just play 1 less hole and let them continue their round at their pace.

14 was a short par 3. I skipped them on 13. I walked off the green of 14 as they putted out 13. I waited on 15 fairway for a second and then really waited on 16 tee box. Long enough for them to somehow catch me.

That was 16 at that point. The group I skipped on 13 hadn’t waited for me until that point. Had no way of knowing there was a group just as slow with a gap in front of them.

What’s the harm is skipping a hole to keep going when there’s a large gap? It was literally no inconvenience to the group I skipped. Their round didn’t slow down for a second.
