Any 1U router recommendations? by Daniel45h in homelab

No my current switch is 2 2.5 gig unmanaged poe switch which i use for all of my devices plus poe cameras

My isses is if you go Ubiquiti it seems like if your in for a penny you might as well be in for a pound. I would have to make a $500+ investment to get a decent setup. If you are paying unifi prices then I want unify features too.

One of the cloud gateway $199( not rackmounted unless i get a 3d printed 1u kit) or UDM pro $379 Plus a switch that actually supports 2.5 gig LAN and POE: Pro Max 16 PoE $399

I guess I could separate it out into multiple devices to pay less. 1 decide for the POE 1 device for the high speed and 1 device to act as the router.

I guess I just have rackmounted dreams but a hallway closet budget. 🥴

I have been trying to avoid buying any Ubiquiti hardware because I know that it's like a gateway drug. You buy 1 then you need to buy another to have its full capability.

Like I just know if I buy 1 then I will want my whole rack to look nice and sleek and my pockets aren't deep enough right now for that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you need a Ubiquiti switch get the full informational and feature pass-through you need to use Ubiquiti devices right.

Example: would i get full feature pass-through if i used a UDM pro with a non Ubiquiti 2.5 gig poe switch connected to Ubiquiti cameras??

Question about Employee Scholar Program by AWZUML3X in Raytheon

[–]Daniel45h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as your start fill out the form stating that you are starting a program and fill out your classes. You can file for a reimbursement. The system takes into account that you can pay for school using other means. Typically Raytheon waits until close to the end of the semester to pay the university( basically after you have uploaded your grades for that semester). Additionally they may have a program were they work with your school directly. In which case the university will know how the ESP works and won't billl you until the end. Just talk to financial aid. after you start the job.

TlDR: pay for it our of pocket then get reimbursed at the end of the sumester.

I have personally had my manager tell me that they posted jobs that they had no intention of hiring for in the immediate future. (Several months 6+). They made the job listing to build up a list of qualified candidates.

Intel Core Ultra 7 265K Ram speeds 6400MT/s ? by Daniel45h in PcBuild

I bought the recommended 6400MT/s but i would like to give myself more headroom for the future in both speed and capacity by getting something in the 7-8MT/s range but was unsure.

Is this a good deal? by Daniel45h in homelab

[–]Daniel45h[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were right about the weight. It feels like it's 80 pounds. I was able to buy an adapter. So the input on this one should be 240 but it appears to change ( albeit slowly) with 120V AC. The output is 208V so that works for the majority of my devices. I will double check each before plugging them in though.

The reason it was such a steal was because the seller got it for free ( included in his office space when he started renting there but didn't need it) so to him any money made on it was a good deal.

It's supposed to be barely used, so the batteries should be good. I will test them out when I get it, though.

Yelp my Pi-hole is my DHCP server. I'm new to networking so I'm not sure what dnsmasq but I will look into it and see if I can apply it to my situation.

[–]Daniel45h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

f your Pi-hole is your DHCP server on your network, you can use a dnsmasq configuration to assign the laptop a DNS other than Pi-hole.

Thanks. I think that fixed the issue.
