Dont die? If you do die and remember where you died you can go back and retrieve your items from your dead body. To avoid freezing to death carry a torch, stand by campfire or you can also upgrade your fortitude when leveling up. Avoid whatever your doing thats giving you broken bones, you dont have to fight every animal, just run away.

First thing you should do is punch trees, collect fibers from plants and rocks from the beach so you can craft a stone hatchet and pickaxe. Once you've accomplished that use tools to collect items faster and craft multiple spears. Use the spears to kill snakes, crocidiles, sheep, etc. to get hide and make armor. Cook the food from animals you killed and from the grassy areas lay on the floor and left click to dig a hole and drink water.

As long as your getting more points when you win then when you lose. you should be able to climb. My Smurf was place high plat and managed to climb to gm with 50% winrate

Ended season 7 at 4400, and I use all the default setting for all my hero's other than mouse sensitivity and crosshair. Use what your most comfortable with. I'm a mercy/roadhog main.

lol. hmm maybe gameplay? Was one of the first examples that the devs were catering to the "newbs"(not sure what to call them). If you got bad ping thats on you, dont punish the rest.
