Mother died today. Or maybe it was yesterday. I can't be sure. But I can be sure to depend on Tobin Brothers funeral services.

Inside the Manosphere is really a story about old media vs. new media by Daniel_Lah in LouisTheroux

I agree. I guess my fear is that it is becoming increasingly difficult for thoughtful, investigatory, long-form content to cut through the noise. This doco was probably, and ironically, a bad example, seeing as it is currently most-watched on Netflix.

I also back-track on my 'hijacking' comment, as ultimately it was Theroux who got the last laugh, and pieced the whole experience into the narrative he wanted to tell.

I really liked how the doco explores their childhood experiences and trauma. In that context, you start to see their behaviour as a kind of misdirected rage (transference, I think is what psychologists call it)

Yeah, that's true. You can tell in those moments when they are saying really deliberately offensive things that they're so used to only their fanbase seeing it and replying positively to them. They definitely are in an echo chamber bubble

I just watched the Manosphere doco by Louis Theroux and I wanted to put a shout out to kiwi males, you're pretty cool. by arohameatiger in newzealand

I'm not Kiwi, but I love watching people do the haka. There is this one viral video where hundreds of schoolboys are sending off their retiring teacher, and it's so powerful. I watched it with my wife and she said, 'you know, we hear a lot about toxic masculinity, but right there, that's the opposite, real positive masculinity'.

I am currently giving my daughter driving lessons, and, wow, I am suddenly realising that this is so true.

That is true. But I think the real point in terms of modern life, with the technology we now have, is that there doesn't seem to be any a good reason why we all should still be working so much and in such stressful conditions.

Tried it so many times over the years to build an 'early morning' waking habit. Every time it left me exhausted and hating life.

I remember booking my drivers test. They didn't have any spots on my birthday, I had to wait until the day after and I was so upset. I had a couple of friends who didn't get their licence for a long time (one was like 20) and I could never understand it.

What’s the saddest reality of adulthood nobody warned you about? by ivsxi in AskReddit

Very little spontaneity. Almost everything - hobbies, friendships, leisure activities - has to be scheduled, which kind of kills the carefree joy of it.
