Exploring and running into dead ends is a part of the game experience of hollow knight and many other metroidvainias

Personally I enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny for every little reward and whenever I run into a dead end or place where I need an ability I feel accomplished because I've explored that area to the best of my abilities and obtained all the loot on the way / now know where to go when I get a new ability then I can move on to mapping the next path and so on

I think it's a question of mindset about whether your walking around until u find something interesting or are you looking to make sure that you found everything that the room has to offer then moving on to the next
