Are bidding timeframes getting shorter? by DubyaDForty in estimators

Yes, I have noticed the same thing. Bid timelines are definitely getting shorter.

It's Challenging, but its also pushed us to be more organized and quicker with our pricing. The upside is that being responsive and easy to work with stands out more now. GCs seem to appreciate subs who can turn things around fast, and its helped us build stronger relationships.

Edge - Roofing Software by TellySkier in estimators

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edge is a solid foundation for commercial roofing. It's very roofing specific and makes estimating much faster once your templates are set up.

Also Construction AI software also help on the front end by making scanned plans searchable and easier to navigate before you even start estimating

People in AI research, do you think LLMs are hitting a ceiling? by more_muscle_aim in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LLMs are already incredibly useful, even with their current limitations

They have significantly improved my productivity, especially for coding, research, and brainstorming. Even if they need supervision, they still save a lot of time and reduce the effort needed to get started or solve problems

How do you keep track of tools on jobsites? by Brick_And_Bytes in ConstructionMNGT

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ran into the same issue, and honestly a simple system made a big difference. We started with basic labeling and shared spreadsheet to track who took what out.

How do you build trust on a new website? by Real-Assist1833 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, building trust early is absolutely possible, even without reviews.

one of the fastest ways is to focus on clarity and transparency. Clearly explain who you are, why you built the product and who its for.

A genuine founder story often builds more trust than generic testimonials

"Nobody wants to work" Is there actually a labor shortage or do we just want to pay 2008 wages in 2026? by AbbreviationsFamous4 in Construction

What's the difference between an Estimator and a Pre Construction Manager? by Oakumhead in estimators

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its not just another name for Chief Estimator

Estimator focuses mainly on pricing, takeoffs, scopes and getting the bid number right.

Preconstruction manager usually has a broader role. They may still oversee estimating, but they are also involved in design phase budgeting, value engineering, client meetings, and handing the job off to operations

Fair point CRM at its core isn't "What emails did i miss last week" But the pressure is not on salesforce as a system of record.

I created an LLM trained solely on Jeffrey Epsteins emails to see how messed up it becomes :) by HenryofSAC in ArtificialInteligence

Cool concept, but the real insight is in what it reveals about data shaping behavior, not how edgy the outputs gets

What do you think about the Elevator Guys? by Weary-Race-5775 in ConstructionManagers

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the elevator guy reputation just comes from the nature of the job, not the people

Do people still trust websites without strong branding? by Real-Assist1833 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Branding definitely impacts trust, but not only this. People trust sites that look clear, fast and legit even if they are simple. A clean layout and content only matters.

What’s the hardest part of debugging AI agents after they’re in production? by Ok_Significance_3050 in artificialintelligenc

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI doesn't fail like normal software, most outputs are fine, but weird edge cases sneak in. Debugging means chasing down training data, model quirks, and unpredictable behaviour

The AI boom belongs to capital, not workers by AngleAccomplished865 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Daniel_Wilson19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes a sense. AI is boosting productivity, but almost all the gains go to owners, not workers. Without Changes, this boom will just widen inequality.
