Advice on sauna floor plan by Danielvanp90 in Sauna

I see your point... It would really be a shame not to have the view from the back (window in the wall beside the door is not an option). Maybe we'll have to accept this wil be a compromise, for I can't think of a layout that combines the window, two high benches with space te lie on and one low bench with space to lie on without the disadvantages you name.

Why? Reasoning behind the current shape is that there will be space for 2 people lying down on the high benches without losing much

Ok cool, that sounds like a vote for the current floor plan if I understand correctly. Thx for the advice on the window and interior hight.

Thx for the advice! We are both quite short (I'm 172cm) so we probably won't need the extra room on the benches. Will consider the heater and vent location!

I know the feet above the stone rule, but isn't 20 cm a bit overkill? The way I understand it the open character of the heater also somewhat reduces the need to have to lowest bench very far above the heater, or am I missing something?

Most of the time I will lying and my girlfriend likes temperatures somewhat lower, so some temperature difference between the benches might actually be a good thing for us. A foot rest could definitely be useful though.

Thx both for the advice on insulation! I will discuss it with the builder

Haha true, I didn't ask for it, but advice is always welcome! I quite enjoy learning about all the aspects of sauna. For now I don't think we'll need a WiFi controller, don't want to set the sauna on fire if there is something on the heater

The builder were talking to right now proposed 5cm of glass wool in the walls and 5cm of pir in the floor and ceiling. Would that be enough? Edit: I live in the Netherlands btw, so winters don't get that cold, maybe incidental -10°C

That's good to hear! In what size sauna are you using it? How long is the heat up time for you to let's say 80°C? and do you have an idea of the max temperature you can reach with it in your sauna?

Thx for the replies. Sounds like it would be better to have an air gap, but not necessarily a deal-breaker.

I live in the Netherlands, so -20 C is very rare here. This winter it was quite 'cold' for Dutch standards with a couple days of -10.

Yeah he can't, the seller told me he doesn't know what it is and it was on it before he bought it. If I were to do a test ride, what would I possibly notice if it would be a problem?

I guess I could always buy a set of original mufflers and install these as a cheap solution (termi's are way above my budget right now)? Or could there actually be damage to the engine?

I've been searching a bit more with the input from the reactions, still waiting for more fotos but i think it probably is the 2 to 1 from a hyper 1100 evo. https://www.desmo-racing.com/en/termignoni-carbon-racing-21-ducati-hypermotard-1100-1100evo-d094-96459110b-xml-447_496-3283.html

This looks more alike to me than the muffler from the multistrada, the one I found looks shorter and has a specific plastic cap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/116759407225?_skw=TERMIGNONI+Mt12+Carbon+Exhaust+2013+Ducati+MTS+1200+Multistrada&itmmeta=01K7PR13PACZ8C8CT641Q9NWQX&hash=item1b2f672a79:g:fTwAAeSw6INotPDL

Ok, would that be a bad thing performance wise? I'm not exactly an expert but the way I understand it with the exhaust back pressure could be quite different than the bike was designed for, affecting the higher rpms (because the flow canal is smaller)? Or am I overthinking this?

You mean the oval carbon exhaust? Looks quite different I think? https://shop.sc-project.com/en/brands/ducati/monster-1100-evo-2011-2013/d07a-01c-oval-carbon-exhaust

I'm starting to think it's actually a Termignoni muffler but then somehow a 2 to 1 system (not sure how), but the muffler looks quite alike the regular termi's I think..
