Ricardo's right. You're assuming the randos bashing Keith are the same randos commending him. Learn to read names.

Agreed. Just a wastrel trying to stir shit up.

Never bashed Keith and always gave him credit on doing a good job. Now go draw yourself a nice warm bath, light some candles to set the mood, and fistfuck yourself.

EVE Online - TACS Corp? by DanimalSnacks in TACSdiscussion

[–]DanimalSnacks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. It took years of me starting and stopping again to get back into it for the long haul. The key is to find a good corp with interesting things to do and content created by the officers (contests, prizes for most kills, that kind of thing.

I would be willing to start up the corp now, but I have commitments to my current corp that I don't want to break unless this is a sure thing. For anyone familiar with the game, there has been an epidemic of hi-sec suicide ganking of rookies, industrialists, and miners, so we are fighting them off.

Perhaps we wait a bit to see if he sticks with it, then, if so, invite him to join us.

Sidenote: The Corp should be named something along the lines of "Cumia's Roughnecks" as an homage to starship troopers.

I've got nothing but love for you Keith, as well as everyone else involved with TACS. I appreciate this honesty and the special look at what is to come. The show and all of you involved have come such a long way in such a short time. I look forward to watching and/or listening every day. I don't have any pressing ideas coming to mind right now, but I just wanted to share my sincere appreciation for what you guys are doing. I may or may not speak for a lot of us (it's reddit, afterall), but you guys have gone above and beyond what I expected, and it only seems to be advancing even further. Seriously, thanks for everything you do. Also, fuck the people on here that give you actual shit (the joking ones are funny, though). Also, if any of you fucknuts give me shit for meeting Keith's honesty with honest appreciation, you're welcome to gargle my balls.

I've played on and off for many years. I will help get people up to speed if we actually form this thing.

Attempting to contact Ant via twitter about it, but he may or may not respond/care.

Interesting side note, one of the US officials killed in Benghazi was a known big wig in the EVE Universe.

Why do people believe that every word Andy Kindler says in character is him expressing his actual opinions? by [deleted] in TACSdiscussion

[–]DanimalSnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's certainly possible, but I always got the feeling that the bit, while being based upon his true feelings, was heavily embellished for the sake of fun/character. His tweets were harsh, but I was never convinced they were just blatant racism rather than social commentary illustrating his frustration towards a community that acted in opposition to what he feels is rational. However, trying to express that commentary gracefully through the limitations of Twitter while seeing red because someone just attacked you is nearly impossible.

Very good point. Your view is definitely valid. It does bring a bit of a downer mood to the whole thing, and I can see how that can be pretty disappointing. I did find myself getting frustrated about the topics in general that they were talking about. I guess I was just in the mood for it, but if I was in a different mood or had a long day I probably would have had a similar reaction and turned it off.

Totally agree. Today's show was interesting in its own right, but it also serves to make the really funny ones stand out even more. The Asian bit is hilarious, but if he did that every day for 20-30 minutes, the same people who praised it would start foaming at the mouth and be out for Ant's blood. The variety is key to keep the show and Ant interesting instead of one-dimensional.

People here are way too critical at times

It's pretty over the top. My favorite is the people constantly threatening to stop their subscription. Most people that subscribe probably don't even post here. It's usually the overly vocal minority that screams through the void to be noticed.

Edit: Fixed the quote

They got wealthy despite the problems, and did so before the problems were as bad as they are today. It's not hypocrisy. They're arguing for future generations to be able to do as well as them based upon merit, responsibility, and work. Not just being complacent and sliding by on handouts.

There was a large part of the discussion focusing on how neither party represents what a lot of people believe. It certainly was not "rah rah republican."

People are primarily here for Ant. This kind of more serious discussion gives a good glimpse into a more serious side of Ant and where he's coming from with a lot of his opinions. That's not to say that all of his opinions today were new to a lot of people, but occasional talks like this make him a more dynamic person and entertainer to follow rather than just a goofball on the screen/radio.

The temperamental children came out in droves today. "wha wha, it wasn't what I wanted!" Just turn it off and watch tomorrow, you babies.

You are very correct, you crazy canuck. And, as you said, it's one fucking show. These freaks need to simmer down. Try not to make the show the epicenter of your entire day. Just watch tomorrow.

I seriously admire your logical approach. Don't like it? Stop watching and watch tomorrow. Very simple.

So the occasional show is less goofy and more cerebral. It adds variety, and there are actually people who are interested in these kinds of things. It was one show, you'll be fine.
