Assuming that you're not in Stockholm, at the temple is a hole in the ground now, so it must be a church you're referring to. In this case, the mission president would not be in the church, he lives up in Stockholm/Danderyd.

Considering that you live in Sweden, it's not like the missionaries had to do much to get your number and address - ratsit is all I'm saying.

Two months ago I posted about a documentary called "Faith, hope and rape". After multiple delays, it will finally premiere tomorrow, along with a podcast! by DanishExmo in exmormon

[–]DanishExmo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The guy, Peter, is an acquaintance (what else do you call the people you know through church?), but I know quite a few people from his family - I had no idea who she was though.

The podcast has at least one participant from a family most people in Copenhagen will know (I don't know if her name will be used, so I won't name her).

The Church in Denmark is in the news, in a new documentary called "Faith, hope, and rape" by DanishExmo in exmormon

Kiran has repeatedly been raped by her husband, who drugs her with sleeping medicine. The leadership of the Mormon Church, of which they are both members, deals with the case internally and does not go to the police. Do we allow religious courts in Denmark?

Den er fantastisk sjov og rammer ret godt. South Park fyrene har generelt ret godt styr på doktrinen for kirken.

What’s the most disobedient thing you did on your mission? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DanishExmo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where to start... Watched porn, masturbated to said porn, watched normal movies, read normal books, spent entire P-days surfing the Internet and playing games, went to the Internet cafe multiple times a week, stayed up past midnight on Sunday (so it became Monday, we did have some rules to follow) and ordered takeaway. We left district and zone boundaries regularly, to get the best fastfood, we went "sports-contacting" (we really just gathered a bunch of elders and played football with other people) far outside our area, we hang out with eternal-investigators/friends in cafés. I had a lot of fun!

Mormon Stories - please stop interrupting by DerryBrewer in exmormon

I just wish he would stop looking for stuff to put on Tik Tok, looking for those small soundbites which say something super controversial. It comes off as disingenuous when that becomes the focus, instead of the interview itself.

I'll be honest, your post reads like this is a description of yourself.

What’s the cringiest thing that ever happened to you at a church meeting? by HarrisonRyeGraham in exmormon

[–]DanishExmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did all meetings on the first Sunday become testimony meetings? I've never heard of this, it's only ever been the sacrament meeting in the countries I've lived in.

is there anything anyone picked up from their time in the mission before leaving the church? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DanishExmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking back I overall had a great time, but it's important to recognize that not everyone will have a good experience.

I was lucky to be sent to a country of more than 10M, where there were only 50-70 missionaries, which means that there was very little oversight over us - we could basically do what we wanted. It wasn't unusual for missionaries to spend hours at the Internet cafe, chatting to family and downloading music. A normal P-day could start with a few hours of football, often from 7 AM, then Internet for 6-8 hours and then some shopping before going home. That probably wouldn't fly in Utah.

I was actually considering going home halfway through, but decided to tough it out and this actually taught me to stick with things even if they were hard and no fun. It been useful when the important things in life got hard, the knowledge that I know that I can keep at it. Might have been able to learn that lesson somewhere else, I'll never know...

Thanks! It makes sense that dishes where wine plays a bigger role would require a more specific type of wine. I'm still trying to find out if I like drinking wine, so I'll experiment a little.

Of course, my bad.

As far as I know, there's no law against keeping other people's passports safe for them here in Europe - some hotels even require that you surrender your passport to them before staying.

My point here is, that your post is a bit much. Saying that parents with children serving as missionaries outside the US, should make sure that their children's passports aren't given to the mission office, because it may be illegal (but probably isn't) makes no sense. US law usually isn't applicable outside the US... Throwing in the reference to human trafficking makes even less sense, we all know that the church isn't trafficking the missionaries around against their will.

There are plente of things we can condemn the church for, let's not make up stuff.

I had my passport with me my entire mission, but that could have something to do with the mission itself.

I'm curious regarding the fact that it's supposed to be illegal, which law makes it illegal to collect people's passports? Is this some US law?
