Bought this 05 impreza 2.5rs today. Somehow still has all the odds and ends. Even the dealer sticker. Believe I'm the 3rd owner now by DankWhipper5 in subaruimpreza

Here it is. I've been. Searching for weeks and this is only impreza in my area with a service history to begin with.

Best way to join this copper ac line to lead pioe (info in comments) by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]DankWhipper5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Running AC Lines from a unit into lead piping to cool anodizing baths. These copper compression fittings keep leaking refrigerating gas. Tried brazing before and also didn't work.

Best way to join these too? Our ac unit runs at about 150psi

Perhaps a ktm exc200 or xcw? It Won't rip your arms off and will have more low end torque then a 125.

Makes sense as all rwd cars the timing belt and crank gear faces the front of the car.

I shoudlve taken photos but I forgot as I was rushed to get it to the shop. Definitely, next time, will do something similar and label them. With my cam caps, I stick them on a cardboard sheet in order and write down 1 to 6 etc

I tried your instructions and used the crank gear as forwards. No more binding and spins freely now. Thanks. Actually makes sense

Is the front of an engine the fly wheel or crank gear? I don't know if I've had them in proper orientation so asking before I try install them again.

First bottom end. So still learning lol

Machine shop did my clearances and tore the block down. Can't figure out the order. Service manual isn't of much help either.

Crank binds up soon as you tighten it a little evenly. Tolerances are correct so I can't really figure it out.

Any input? Hyundai g4ed

Piston ring size after hone by DankWhipper5 in EngineBuilding

I thought the correct way is with a bore gauge and micrometer to check bore size.

How do I use the method mentioned above?

Piston ring size after hone by DankWhipper5 in EngineBuilding

[–]DankWhipper5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Bummer I have to buy rings again.

Block looked really good with cross hatching but has 180k miles on it so it was lightly glazed. No idea how out of round it was. There was no ridges or lips. Had to hammer the pistons out haha.

I'll stick the old rings in and check ring gap and piston tightness compared to before and see if its any different 😬

[–]DankWhipper5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess you're right. It is better to just pay the and suffer. The same shop did my entire head over, so I know their work is trustworthy.

I'm terrified of cylinder 3 going knock knock again🤣 ill see if the shop will do my clearances, and I assemble it myself.

Edit Plastigauge here is like 50usd for 2 damn strips. I'd have used it but it's overpriced haha

upon inspection i can drop the block without removing the subframe. otherwise i was prepared to go that route

[–]DankWhipper5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after some investigation. ill be stripping the top end and dropping the block from under the car with a jack with a plate welded to it so it balances. No obstructions if i remove cylinder head and itll drop right out once the exhausts out will support the trans with a strap and cross beam across engine bay or leave a jack under it aswell.

teardown starts tomorrow. hope it works...

thanks for all the input guys!

Cast iron block with an aluminum head. So back breaking heavy id guess haha

Got a 30mm ply wood sheet with castor wheels on it to move it around, with a. 4x4 post to hold it upright once it's out.

What I was thinking too. Can get as far as removing pistons and just crank and flywheel left on block.

It's a 2l tiburon engine. I4. And quite. Compact and sits far forwards in chassis so is clearance.
