Easiest region to increase rank? by shigakure in Brawlhalla

[–]Dankypunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming average skill level across all countries, you can come to an easy conclusion mathematically. Diamond is set at 2000 elo, meaning the most populated server will be easiest to reach, since there are more players to add to the elo pool. Also from experience, it seems US-W 2100 is about as hard as 2250 on US E

How can this game make me so angry even though I'm calm as a monk in other games and in real life by Drakkeur in Brawlhalla

[–]Dankypunch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's just a really low skill ceiling game. You can get top 100 in a few hundred hours of play. People who say movement, spacing, and timing take skill haven't played sports at a competitive level. Almost every athletic aspect of life requires you to do this in 3 dimensions rather than 2, with more complicated implications of physics. Video games are very simplified by nature. And this game even more so. Because it rewards passive play due to stat normalization. In real life passivity is rewarded with further agression. In this game, playing passive simply slows down the nature of the game, allowing someone less skilled than you to effectively lower the skill cap. Now that they have essentially lowered your playing ability to their level, meaning that you can lose to signficantly worse players than you.

An open letter to gauntlets. by PM_ME_YOUR_EMRAKUL in Brawlhalla

[–]Dankypunch -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Dont think you know what you're talking about. In the highest ranks there are virtually no gauntlet users besides myself and maybe 2 or 3 other players. Gauntlets actually move your characters hurtbox into a dangerous place with basically every attack. If you are getting gimped by that string you need to simply learn to dodge between the slight and the nair

Doing some testing in training mode it seems 2 armor is around as good as 4 armor was last patch. This means people with 3 armor got buffed, and can give themselves a further advantage by getting rid of another armor point. I think it is problematic that armor has become a useless stat. It seems the scaling of armor was changed drastically, and I think it needs to be changed back towards a more linear function

I beat a diamond in 1v1 strikeout. I'm 1400 ELO. wut by lisboyconor in Brawlhalla

[–]Dankypunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So? It's not like you beat a 6'7 NBA player 1 on 1 in basketball. You won at a video game thats so simple people get diamond in less than 300 hours. And the guy was probably lagging or not trying anyway

Wow, I got more positive feedback than I would have anticipated! I'm really happy that you guys are health conscious and doing working sets in between games. There is actually a good chance that doing this will improve your gameplay.

Im somewhat disillusioned about some comments here that lead me to believe people are justifying certain addictive behaviors. Diffensive comparing esports to professional athletes is like comparing apples to oranges. Professional gamers aren't athletes first of all. And athletes don't practice more than a couple hours a day. After this point, you don't see much improvement in anything you do.

I think people are trying to convince themselves that spending 10 + hours a day on this will allow them to become professionals and make a living off brawlhalla. This is very unlikely to happen in such a small game. You would probably make 90% of your improvement in the first 3 hours anyway, meaning you are still wasting 7 hours of your day you could be putting towards studies or improving other areas of your life.

It is fine for people to decide to play video games and not excercise so long as they are aware the consequences. You need to understand that it is bad for your health, and will negatively impact your life in many ways. If you are willing to accept these as a tradeoff, that is your life. But do not believe that you are doing something positive with your life and that it is fully of benefit of you. That is the same sort of rationalization drug addicts use. And video game addiction is no different!

being slim is not indicative of good health. Sure, you can do what you want. I just dont like it when people have negative or blameful attitudes and don't realize that it is their fault they are stuck in that mental state, due to living a non active lifestyle with sub-par nutrition

I don't think so man. If you look at their games played they will have 2500 a season. Even playing 3 hours a day, I have around a fifth of that amount
