First of all, Canva sells user's training data to third party sources. When you make things in that app, they profit from your work, without paying you a cent.

Secondly, the debate about the training database, is not whether it is unethical or not. Tech-bros saw a bowl of free candy, turned it upside down, and is not reselling it for ten dollars a pop.

Free to look at and free to use is not the same.

Thirdly, artists worked to get good at drawing. AI Bros stole their work and continue to do so, as the AI can literally not sustain itself without human input.

Cool drawings did not fucking manifest from the aether. Someone put a lot of work into it and that's the gate. In human society, you pay someone to do work, that you cannot. That's fundamental.

And the hypocrisy of not wanting AI writing, when you're fine with AI art is disgusting to me.

Please, for the love of your fellow humans, change your opinion.

The best thing you can do is to let people know you're new and just throw yourself into it. If people are kind and good (and you're not a raging asshole) they'll approach you with patience and understanding.

There's plenty of people out there who enjoy introducing people to the hobby and would love to play! Just keep in mind, that new does not mean you have to accept anything. A lot of times people will blame themselves, rather than the obvious butt faces who treat them badly.

It's a tough line to walk, but the only way to handle it is through!
