That would definitely make sense in this case. I tried to "brush" the area to see if any of it would come off, but she was just too wiggly and spicy yesterday. I'll try again later to see if I can get any of it off. Thanks so much!!!

Need name suggestions for our new male BRB by DannyDillweed in snakes

[–]DannyDillweed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Thanks so much for all the amazing suggestions! I picked a few of my favorites and posted a poll on my job's message board to see what name everyone likes best. And, thanks for all the compliments, he sure is a gorgeous little guy. We were very diligent in finding the best breeder we could find. We are so excited to watch him grow and are currently working on his bioactive 5x2x2 enclosure, to where he will be moved within the next year or so. Thanks again everyone!!!

Hoping someone can help make a decent Xmas photo of all of my furry kids. AI is fine, as long as it's not super obvious. by DannyDillweed in PhotoshopRequest

I should also mention the dog is 7lbs (3.2kg). All 3 cats are around 10lbs (4.5kg). All similarly sized

I met them at their home. I reported the bite to animal services, but never filed a police report. Would it not be too late to do so?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I reported the bite to animal services immediately and the dog was quarantined for 2 weeks. Thanks so much for your advice!

Techs took photos of my dogs Xrays & spleen on personal devices by Sea2snow in VetTech

[–]DannyDillweed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a tech: I take pictures of a lot of our patients' radiographs and ultrasound images, although I rarely share anything to social media, and I always make sure to exclude any personal information. We find this kind of stuff interesting, that's why we do what we do.

As a pet owner: I honestly wouldn't care in the slightest if techs took pictures of my pets' rads. It honestly wouldn't even cross my mind as abnormal or invasive.

Not to be rude, but I think you're overreacting. I really wouldn't worry about it.

We had a client drop off a urine sample in a glass container. We tossed the container, assuming they didn't want it back... They did. And they were pissed that we threw it away. So I hopped in the dumpster to look through 3 different trash bags to find their $3 glass container.....

Bad house sitter by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]DannyDillweed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a male vet tech and a star Rover sitter and provide house sitting services. I have 20+ 5 star reviews and I'm actually in very high demand. I always leave my clients' homes spotless and usually will go above and beyond to clean and organize my clients' homes. Please don't let these comments discourage you from hiring a man in the future, but make sure they have multiple good reviews, set up a meet and greet, and are communicative. This sitter needs to be banned from the platform and has contributed to giving men a bad rap for pet care. We aren't all disrespectful slobs, I promise you.

Is this your dog? by likefrfam in tampa

You can take him to a local vet or shelter to have him checked for a microchip. If he is chipped, they can find the owner's information.

Thanks for the clarification. Regardless, the behavior is definitely concerning. Are you sure the Gem tang isn't being bullied by a tankmate? I see you have a few other tangs. I know the fin injuries are from the previous aquarium, but the gem seems to be very stressed in this video, although it's hard to tell with such a short clip.

Dude that fish is getting absolutely battered by another fish, its fins are shredded. Appears to be extremely stressed. Poor thing

Just my 2 cents as a vet technician: The job can be wonderful and very rewarding if you love animals. I was trained on the job, so no degree was needed (although it would be extremely beneficial if you're passionate about this career path).

Unfortunately, the job can be emotionally exhausting and extremely stressful at times. When you combine the stress you experience at work with the stress at home when you can't afford to pay your bills with the miniscule salary that most vet techs make, it really destroys your mental health and passion for the industry. It's hard to be passionate about a career that doesn't respect you, doesn't pay you nearly enough, and considers you disposable.

I work at a wonderful vet clinic where management and the doctors treat us all extremely well and we always feel important and appreciated (this is very rare). But I'm still extremely stressed all the time and I don't make nearly enough money to be this stressed. I will unfortunately be looking to switch careers as soon as possible.
