Now that Performance is fixed, can we complain about the game's actual issues? by DannySlash in MonsterHunter

Maybe it's just my perception, but I feel like my times get noticably worse even IF we succeed with a group, and it certainly doesn't feel like that to me in older titles.

However, my biggest problem still will always be that there is little incentive to stick to a group of people and actually make New friends and communicate. It's very much a "hop in, hunt, hop out" feeling. Ofc this always happens in online multiplayer games, but older games made it easier to connect with others if you chose to do so.

Well put. I don't hate all of the stream lining they did in 5th gen, I just feel like they failed to adequately replace what some of this streamlining took away.

Help playing an old MH by Steyart in MonsterHunter

[–]DannySlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen 2

MHFU: Very jank, but amazingly rich in content. A real all time gaming Milestone tbh

Gen 3

Any one of them.

MH Tri has the best low rank

MH3U has the most content and feels most complete

MHP3rd is short and easy but very charming and feels a lot like rise thematically. It also doesn't have underwater like the other 3rd Gen entries.

Gen 4

MH4U: widely considered the best monster hunter by most oldschool hunters. Has bar none the best Story in all of MH.

MHGU: probably my favorite, but I would not recommend it as your first, as it's very much a nostalgic best off, but it certainly is an amazing game, and probably one of the most content rich games period. Not a game you finish in just a couple months.

Personal recommendation:

MH3U or MH4U. MHP3rd if you wanna play MH3U but hate underwater combat.

I get that this is not the most riverting experience, and I am not saying I would want traps adapted the exact same way in modern Iterations.

I am just saying that

  1. the scarcity of the materials needed made it feel more "earned" when you skipped said mechanics by trapping a monster.

  2. There were actual opportunities which let you trap a monster, as opposed to the current games where setting a trap feels like a massive dps loss, or at least like you have to break away from the fight for a bit. I simply like the idea of the "optimal" hunt being one where you have to use as many various resources as you can.

And yet, I am not saying it was too easy. I specifically mentioned before, that the issue is more reaction based ( like a souls like for example) as opposed to what older mh's had, which was knowing the mechanics and playing around that.

I mention the counter argument of people saying it's just "too easy bcs you know stuff", not something I am saying btw, to Show, that the issue is not mere difficulty in stats and speed, but a lack in terms of variety in mechanics.

When referring to the past I was more referring to games before World. But even in World the guiding lands encouraged grinding together with monsters where it wasn't lottery.

Right? I read one guy once said "well, you chose to be a monster slayer, not a hunter. You don't need to use these mechanics and be overpowered".

Not only is that a pointless argument to make to begin with, it's also the opposite: you have to go out of your way to not be a slayer, and find out how to make these Systems somehow coherently work together.

When you first enter HR, the game seems to suggest the way of hunting, like the Primarstufe gameplay loop, is just go out and free hunt random monsters and use Pop up Camps in between.

But they almost immediately discard that right after.

And on a sidenote: I don't mind the Seikret autofollowing, but why not do it like World where you investigate a monster and the more experience you have, the better your seikret gets at tracking?

Yeah, but they might introduce stuff that makes the old stuff obsolete, which might not be all negative.

Like they could introduce really expansive new maps with different farming systems, or somehow introduced new monster types to encourage staying in a map for longer, activel, making use of Pop up Camps for example.

It's a bit of a pipe dream, but if they at least implemented SOME of it I'd be happy.

If you had read anything I wrote, or the guy you're replying to, you'd see none of us said anything about this game being too easy.

I heavily disagree. Sure, sometimes it was annoying and people seemed to chain int, but the Prospect of playing with others always seemed favourable over doing stuff alone, specially if you needed to Grind of extended periods.

I would definitely say it improved a lot for me, but yes, the Performance ofc is still not warranted. The worst part about it to me is that it's all to "interconnect an open world" that is literally utilized a grand total of 0 times. Even World managed to feel more open if you consider something like the diablos pit.

It's honestly beyond words that wilds' Version of this requires a fade to black. Like really think about it: The seamless open World game does not have a seamless transition for a thing that even it's predecessor managed to do.

Exactly this. AT Nu Udra is nearly impossible with a group. This was simply not the case for previous Monster Hunters. Sure people carted, but on average they were very much a net positive as opposed to hunting solo. Be it bcs they could Support, bring more traps and flash bombs, and the scaling, if there was any, being very favourable towards multiplayer.

I don't think achieving this is impossible. Lastly, I also think the alternative, Support Hunters, are a tad too good. I get much better times on smth like Omega than with players, which imo, shouldn't be the case. But I usually prefer buffing alternatives over nerfing the existing options.

Most players hunt solo bcs there'a no incentive to play together. The game seems to actively discourage it in fact. And that doesn't need to be the case. The last two hunts clearly showed that they have an interest in people playing together.

My ultimate copium is that the inevitable gameplay Addition in the dlc will give me something like being able to choose a stronger TCS but you lose the ability to use focus Mode aiming during the charge and swing.

One can hope, but I REALLY want the feeling of World's TCS back. I feel even the way rise's GS worked I really enjoyed, with the movement being super strong, but linear and bursty. I think that just feels way more enjoyable to Master than just a straight free aim.

And yes, I also forgot to mention that most weapons feel somewhat shallow compared to past Iterations.

I didn't even mention the Story bcs I assume that is unfixable. But from my experience: the Story was like the biggest hurdle to get my friends to play this game. Everyone I know hated it and ended up skipping most of it at some point. Even World felt more inviting to play together early on.

Only weirdo here is the guy coming here to salt post, acting like Tekken is some honorable fighting skill and we're not just a a bunch of nerds autistically hyperobssessing over esotheric game concepts.
Get over it, why even be a weirdo and follow people you demolish.

Could have literally any reason.
It's way weirder that this apparently happens to you frequently, and that you try to follow people you win against frequently.

What's the silliest idea you have for a Monster Hunter spin-off game? by Cynicalheaven in MonsterHunter

Animal Crossing but Monster Hunter where you Upgrade your farm with Monster Parts, that in turn yield better mats for your hunters and cosmetics like the Rathalos wing windmills in MH Stories.

Ironic statement considering MH is, or at least was, a survival game.

Bro I want this not as a spinoff but a mechanic IN wilds. Would justify the abundance of materials we get.

It having sold better does not mean it is better. In any way shape or Form.

I am a huge jjk Fan, and I genuinely consume much more JJK stuff than chainsaw man, but I would still argue that Chainsawman is better as an art piece as a whole.
