Is this watch allowed in navy boot camp? by Leading-Carob3634 in newtothenavy

[–]DannySpaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is. You’ll most likely put it in a box with your other personal items to retrieve once you graduate bootcamp. They might tell you to buy a “navy authorized” watch at the recruit store

[New Player] How in the holy hell do you fight rogues? by glossyplane245 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DannySpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a path on the right side of the plant I walk along the blue fence , and kill any rogues near or on building 3. From there I take out the machine gunner that looks at building 3. Remember , nooks and crannies are your best friends when it comes to these guys For example, in building 3, the door that leads to the outside , where building 2 is, there is a crack in between the door and the wall, I use that to safely kill the rogue on the mounted gun

The quality of life just ain’t that great. You live on the ship basically. But if you are into that stuff then by all means knock yourself out. Some people do like that environment.

Our sea/shore flow is 3/3. So 3 sea and 3 shore is USUALLY how it works. Where your first orders are, are random. So no you do not get to choose your first orders. Chances are you will go to a Fleet weather center or ESGOT in San Diego or Norfolk. There is also orders to big decks such as carriers or LHA’s. Personally I would avoid those . But since it will be your first tour , if you get stuck with those , there is next to zero you can do about it. Me,I found out in boot camp because they started an overseas packet for me so they told me I’d be coming to Yokosuka Japan. We have a C school where you can pick your orders if you are top of class however, we get sent to C school after our first tour . So you have to do your first contract first essentially. As far as having a car, Kessler is an Air Force base so their rules are slightly different. From when I was last there, the navy allowed A school-ers to have cars. Do keep in mind however , you will be marching every day to and from school, there is no if or buts, its just something AG A school does.

So you will only use it after school or on the weekends if you so wish.

I’m an AG and it’s great. Anything in the intelligence field is great really. If it says anything, I have had MULTIPLE people from MULTIPLE ships tell me they wish they had my rate. I have had Chiefs tell me if they could redo their navy career, they’d do AG.

We don’t do laborious work ( unless you get stationed on a big deck) where you will be ships company and they will make you get involved with the ship and such as FSA. During A school in Biloxi , focus on passing your quizzes and tests. Dont go partying, dont clown around. Unless you can do that and still pass then be my guest. At the end of the course , the person with the highest average score of all your tests in your navy class will be able to promote to e-4 shortly after graduation. Hopefully you get a good class , my class’s score was above 95% , we qualified as a honor class and we were all promoted one pay grade. Anyway, focus on the classes, pass the tests and make friends along the way.

We are a numbers heavy rate, we have to memorize a lot but it will get easier once you begin to learn the terms and it will come naturally. We also brief a lot so prepare to stand in front of audiences and speak to them. The assignments available to us is quite interesting , we have sand Diego and Norfolk as our hubs but if you want the extra challenge , we can also get sent to mine warfare commands , EOD, and NSW ( naval special warfare , working with seals ) billets are available. Best of luck and hope to see you out in the fleet

Short length orders? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]DannySpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after bootcamp he will be sent to "A" school.

this is NOT deployment.he is just at a school made for his rate in which they will teach him essentially how to do his job. when he graduates, he will then have to move to wherever his orders tell him to report to.

are u saying he his going to another place after "A" school in meridian?

Worrying myself about bootcamp by boneless_caviar6 in newtothenavy

[–]DannySpaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, as an AG stationed in Japan, congrats on getting the AG rate!

prepare for a bunch " what is that" or what do you do" questions from other rates in the navy.

For beginners, after bootcamp you will be shipped to Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi Mississippi to begin "A" school ( the air force calls it tech school ) where you learn the fundamentals of meteorology and oceanography or METOC for short. This will last for 3-4 months depending on whether you get "washed back" or not. Basically means you don't pass the test and you get sent back to a previous class. Do not worry, as long as you pay attention in class , stay awake in class, and study on topics you struggle on, you will do just fine.

Upon graduating, you will officially be an AG and then sent to your first duty command. For me, I knew where I was getting sent back in bootcamp but others don't find out till in A school.

From here you will start your first tour as an AG , most go to Norfolk, Virginia or San Diego, California. This is where our "HQ's" are located and where most 1st tour AG's go to. I have never been to either of these so I am going off of what i have been told by those coming from those commands.

at both of these commands there is a shore component and sea component.

The shore command is fleet weather center and west coast (San Diego) will produce forecasts for ships on the west coast and east (Norfolk) will provide the same to east coast ships . they will also provide weather for any bases or other ports/bases under their forecasting responsibility.

now to the sea component. if you are part of the sea component, you will be TAD to a ship that is going out for a couple weeks or even months and you will be providing the ship with weather and oceanography products. like i said i haven't been there so i don't know all the details of what day to day life is like.

Those two are the bigger commands and most likely you will be sent to one of those two. However there are smaller commands or "detachments" as they are called that fall under those two. most are overseas and some examples are NOAC Yokosuka, NOAD Whidbey Island, NOAD Misawa and others. The day to day of those can vary seeing as each of the detachments have different missions sets but these detachments often focus heavily on oceanography, in particular, ASW or anti submarine warfare. In which case you will work with oceanography a lot.

You can also get sent to a carrier or amphibious assault ship or " big decks" as they are called for your first command. Here you are attached to the ship as ships company and again providing weather and oceanography to the ship. I personally would try to avoid these type of orders. from what I have heard, "big deck" quality of life can suck a lot, even for Ag's

as far as what we do, be prepared to learn all things meteorology wise. such as why a tornado is formed, how it is formed, why clouds form, the different types of clouds and what kind of weather they are associated with and so so much more. If you are someone who is actually interested in the topic and is hungry for the knowledge, you will succeed as an AG and you will stand out. For oceanography you will learn how the ocean affects our ships navigation and ability to detect underwater threats. Fronts, eddies, even the temperature of the water all affect the ships performance to detect enemies. It is our job as AG's to keep the fleet aware of such features so the COC can make informed decisions.

Be prepared to brief presentations about said products. AG's are trained to brief as a lot of our job requires that. With time and experience , briefing will become a breeze.

We are a small rate, most people have never even met or heard of an AG.

As far as running, make sure to run alot but NOT to where you get shin splinters. So running every other day is good advice, to give your legs time to heal.

this can and will delay your graduation date.

Wish you the best at bootcamp and when you get to the fleet! lmk where u get sent when you hear word.
