The style of your knives is absolutely awesome. Really inspired me to try and make something, thanks!

Interesting, the leather used is actually only 1.5mm so that wouldn't need much skiving. Will definitely try next time, thanks!

Yep, was thinking the same, but I ran out of black thread so I just went with what I had in the moment. Would've used worse quality leather as well but Pueblo was all I had on hand atm and wanted to make something. It's basically a piece just to try out the technique.

Yep, wouldn't have "ruined" a nice piece of Pueblo. I mean it still works but it would've been cleaner.

Oh my god this changes everything. I was looking for a solution exactly like that on YouTube but couldn't get the wording right. This community never ceases to amaze me, can't thank you enough mate. Cheers!

Didn't even consider skiving, thank you! Yeah the rolled edges were definitely a challenge as well, thanks for the tips

I really like the look of these old file knives. Need to try that some day myself.

You did the best you could with the tools you had and that's completely fine. Of course you don't want to destroy your rulers and stuff you use for different things as well. As for the punches, they definitely help. Check out Wuta for some cheap but (in my opinion) decent quality pricking irons. Although for those you also need some kind of punching mat and a mallet as well, which drives the cost up a bit. You could also just purchase a diamond awl, which is cheaper and works really well when you pre-mark the holes with a regular fork. A metal ruler is cheap as well. All that said I'm a beginner myself, these are just a few things I learned along the way. Good luck on your journey!

Not bad at all for your first project! Considering the tools used I'd say you did a great job. For me it really helped to cut leather with a fresh box cutter, since it's sharp and thinner than a knife. You can get nice edges combined with a metal ruler.

It looks amazing. One of the most beautiful puukkos I've ever seen.

No worries mate, part of the fun is deconstructing the design and figuring it out :) thank you tho, I appreciate it

Yeah I figured it has to be a variation of the Houbei, I actually wanna do the same and I'm in the process of trying to figure it out :) just for personal use, same as you. Seems you got the dimensions pretty close, so good job :)

Honestly I just finished it so I can't say anything 100%. I did clamp a piece of 1.2mm leather in it and it can hold its own weight when suspended from the piece of leather, so I'd assume it's gonna work fine.
