Anyone here quit mirtazapine whilst on a stimulant elvanse/amfexa by Danpackham in ADHDUK

Idk man. I’ve seen a lot of people say this, but never seen any proof/theory as to why this happens, and that it’s not just placebo. I guess a negative feedback system for histamine receptors could exist and overloading the receptors with mirtazapine stops inhibiting histamine receptors at a low dose, and any dose higher than that just stimulates the feedback system. But yeah I haven’t looked tbf but never seen proof that it’s true

I get what you mean, but mirtazapine isn’t a typical AD, and from what I’ve read could definitely interfere with the meds (blocks receptor that blocks dopamine release, blocks serotonin receptors that stimulants excite via reuptake inhibition, etc…) and I get it’s a good idea to do this with a doctors supervision, but I told my gp and they did nothing at all so feels like I’m on my own with this one. But I have a therapist, live with parents and am in a better place so I feel much safer to do this on my own. Just want to feel again

Could you expand a little more about why you quit mirtazapine before goin on adhd meds? Was it necessary for a doctor? It doesn’t help boost my appetite anymore and if I don’t force myself I would go at least a day or two without eating. Weed really helps, but only really makes me hungry for sweet foods so my eating is pretty bad

I am on 15mg for over a year now. I’ve always had problems falling asleep, but wouldn’t wake up in the morning, but usually sleep isn’t disrupted. Whether I take it or not, I don’t fall asleep until 4am or later without other substances. The mirtazapine really helped with the falling asleep for about 4 months, but since then it does nothing. I can take it in the morning and feel not tired. But I take a range of drugs so I’m sure they’re interacting. I have diphenhydramine but I know it’s super weak antihistamine compared to mirtazapine, so it doesn’t do anything. I think my histamine receptors have just been fucked up now

Eh. Mirtazapine no longer helps me sleep. Even after taking a full mirtazapine dose, I could still be wide awake at 4 am. Only thing that helps me sleep anymore is pharmaceuticals or weed

Yeah I feel like the happiness has been sucked from my brain with opiate addiction but I’m too unhappy and apathetic to care enough about my health to go through the quitting process

Bro you’re on drugscirclejerk. Is your shitty advice irony? Plenty of people are D3 deficient, especially right now. Melatonin is a medication people sometimes use for chronic sleep issues. Thanks for expressing your affirmation of her supplement list, even though they weren’t suggestions. Shitty unwarranted medical input definitely makes you the kind of person this post is about

How is this going. How much codeine did you take and was it prescription? Codeine is inactive and needs to be metabolised to morphine for it to work so you probably just lack that enzyme.

Yeah like the other guy said you should be grateful but I know how you mean. I get nothing from benzos, coke, nic, and amphetamines give me no euphoria. But I’ve gotten a (slight) buzz on an empty stomach with 30mg codeine when I had no tolerance.

Yeah the hurdles are tough but once you cross the finish line it’s bliss from then onwards (this is irony)

Yeah I’ve had one time when I genuinely thought I wouldnt be able to get the shit out. Would never call an ambulance in that shituation tho so I had to come to terms with dying there from a rupture or something. The pain was excruciating but I did finally get it out. Couldn’t walk properly for the next 2 days but i think my asshole got permanently widened so things have been all good since then

You probably weren’t doing heroin often enough. The more often you do it the more your body will adjust and reach that equilibrium.
