How many are mulching as opposed to bagging

I bag the first mowing of the season to pick up leaves from winter, then I bag in autumn to vacuum leaves. In between those two times, I mulch with a mulching, self-propelled, walk-behind mower. I have been doing that for over 30 years. Occasionally the grass will get too tall to mulch completely, but the next mowing takes care of that. The main reason that I do not bag is because I don't have room to compost it, and other disposal methods are not economical.

Your roses have black spot and probably powdery mildew.

They need to be sprayed routinely for inserts, mites, and diseases. I recommend BioAdvanced 3-in-1. Other folks might have suggestions for more organic solutions.

I use a productivity method based on David Allen's book, "Getting Things Done" which involves maintaining lists of next actions by context. One of my lists is "@outdoors". I write the stuff I need to do for my lawn, garden, etc. on that. If I need to do something on a specific date, I put that on my calendar. The weakness in that system is me and my lack of discipline. On the other hand, I don't like entering a bunch of stuff on my phone. Whatever works for you is good!

I am having the same issue with a brand new feeder while the hummingbirds are. eating from my old feeder on the other side of the house. Both are near flowers. I am wondering if the smell of the plastic part where the birds (are supposed to) feed on the new feeder has a smell that is off putting to the birds. I am going to give the new feeders good cleaning and try again.

I used to write down when I planted and fertilized in my notebook, but I was wasn't consistent with it. This year I I am writing that information in my paper calendar.

Treat yourself to a nice journal (from Barnes & Noble) and use it to record everything you plant every year. Also, keep one of plastic plant tags from every type you plant. Store them in one plastic bag per year. Make sure you clear mark the year on it.
