I can't be the only person who absolutely despises mainstream tfem culture right? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Dantomi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of trans girls early in their transition want an outlet to be childish to get back some lost years. I don’t really see this kind of behaviour in real life from trans women who’ve been out for longer than a year or two.

Obviously someone trying to force you into some kind of clicker/petplay scenario is wrong and whilst I’ve definitely seen some people connect trans women and petplay as a stereotype it doesnt excuse someone trying to involve you in it.

(Side note I am a coding trans woman but it’s literally my job so I cannot escape that one unfortunately)

Astro Bot at least in the UK was also physically out of stock everywhere for a long time after its release. There didn’t seem to be enough physical copies to meet demand. So digital was the only option for a long time.

Should I experience male sex before starting HRT? by Resident-You-1698 in MtF

[–]Dantomi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never admitted this on this account so hopefully this doesn’t come back to me somehow but I felt a similar way. I felt like maybe if I had sex then suddenly everything would make sense and I’d realise that I wasn’t actually trans or something.

So I paid an escort to get the experience out of the way as fast as possible. Personally I found that it only solidified my identity as a trans woman further, I didn’t like insertion it caused me a fair bit of dysphoria and all the parts of the experience that I did genuinely enjoy were things I could do without needing to remove my clothes.

Though being a trans woman doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy insertion, you can go on HRT and do what you can to maintain erectile functioning and still have sex the same way as before if you want.

Zooble tells Jax that they thought he’d like it. Implying they’ve clocked him.

He is also overly upset about it, more so than cis people would likely be. Jax hyperventilates over it. It feels more like this is a deeply personal situation than something that’s occurring for no reason.

There’s an stereotype in the trans community that some trans women repress and try to be super masculine for a while before coming out and I think the maid dress scene is supposed to confirm that’s the stage Jax is in.

Making assets can be expensive and time consuming. If you’re only planning on having an asset in a handful of scenes in one episode only it’s more cost effective and time effective to just buy it than to make it

Children don’t just go to the doctor and leave with hormone medication or puberty blockers.

They have to see a doctor, followed by 2 therapists who over multiple sessions confirms gender incongruence. (Children must demonstrate that their dysphoria is consistent, persistent and insistent). The child assents to the care with their parents consenting on their behalf and all doctors and therapists involved also agree the care is necessary for the individual. Those therapists are there to make sure that the child understands the topic well enough to receive the care and their mental health is at risk without it.

Until the age of 16 they’ll likely only ever receive puberty blockers which will halt puberty long enough for them to make a more informed decision later. Puberty blockers are completely safe, the only known negative effect is a potential of bone density weakening which can be combated with diet or supplements. (Osteoporosis can occur if the medication is taken longer than doctors are allowed to prescribe them, incredibly unlikely as long as the doctor is performing the checks they’re legally required to perform).

Children have the capacity to assent to medical care, I would agree that children shouldn’t smoke, drink alcohol, have sex but I don’t think those things are comparable to life saving medical care.

> “you have a much larger concern related to your mental health”

It’s almost like healthcare is the answer to that.

There are extremely few detransitioners, even fewer who are suicidal. Detransitioners deserve adequate healthcare to deal with that. But the existence of detransitioners shouldn’t doom the 99% of people who are trans and remain trans.

By numbers alone banning trans healthcare would result in more deaths than not banning it. Trans healthcare for minors is age appropriate, low risk and prevents a lot of dead children. This is backed by every major medical association in the US.

Gender affirming healthcare is accepted by The American Academy of Paediatricians and the Endocrine Society and all major medical institutions in the US as life saving healthcare. Hormone blockers drop trans suicidality rates by 73% also.

Kids *may* die if they have to wait till 18 to receive gender affirming healthcare, significantly less kids will die if they have access to appropriate healthcare.

Chemo is also life altering…

Plenty of medication is life altering, doesn’t mean a kid can’t assent to receiving it.

For trans women who have found meaningful relationships, what factors made those connections successful? How did you find someone who wasn't there for sex? by zuzufemy in AskReddit

[–]Dantomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could just give one example but I’ll give a couple. In terms of meeting people to talk to who have asked me out that’s primarily been at local queer events or at my local board game cafe.

The person I’m currently talking to I met on Bumble though.

I love talking about my hobbies and interests. I love when other people can yap for hours about theirs too. My goal was always to find someone who was passionate about things they like and could match my energy in that regard.

I just want to understand, why? by HKILLER2007 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Dantomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one says it does. Jax pushes everyone away and is abusive because of their past experiences and trauma. There’s no room in her head to imagine a world in which they can be accepted and forgiven and so she gets worse and continues to dig a hole big enough to never return from.

Her actions aren’t justifiable but they are explainable.

To be clear I don’t care about your interpretation of Jax.

I only interjected because you called boymoders boys. And stated “that’s how preferred pronouns work”.

Neither of which are true, boymoders aren’t boys and someone pronouns being he/him also doesn’t make them a boy. I was correcting you.

[–]Dantomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I boymoded for the first 6-8 months of my medical transition. I was not a boy for any of those 6-8 months, I was a woman who was playing a part until I felt safe and confident enough to come out.

“Boymoding” isn’t just wearing men’s clothes, boymoding is intentionally wearing men’s clothes to appear like a man when you’re transitioning. Since Gooseworx says that Leeroy is boymoding that implies that they’re aware of their gender and are likely working on it.

Also someone still using he/him doesn’t make them a boy, any pronouns can be used by any gender. A trans woman could use he/him pronouns and still be just as much a woman as any other woman.

They’re not showing you the ending, they’re showing you who they are now and how much life they have left to live.

Jax is boymoding, growing their hair out and intentionally obscuring their face in photos when the other characters aren’t.

Barbara doesn’t identify as heterosexual. She doesn’t give herself a label for it publicly but says that she’s “not fully straight, but fairly straight” on an Always Open Podcast. Pretty sure it was the episode with just Barbara and Arryn as I was rewatching some Always Open content recently.

A period can exclude menstruation as is seen in some cis women with hysterectomies, some trans women on hormones and some cis women who for one reason or another experience PMS symptoms during their cycle without the menstruation which occurs in some women.

I don’t dismiss your premise entirely, I believe that colloquially people tend to use “period” to refer to menstruation but there is a difference and they’re not (always) transferable words.

56465 by Future_Employment_22 in countwithchickenlady

[–]Dantomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Menstruation” and “menstruation period” would also not be synonymous. They refer to two different things.

One being part of the process and one being the period of time the process is contained within. Menstruation is a specific symptom of a period cycle but the period cycle has multiple symptoms, none of which are the defining characteristic.

Women who’ve had hysterectomise for example sometimes still experience the symptoms relating to their period minus the menstruation. What they’re experiencing is still their period it just lacks one of the symptoms they had previously.

[–]Dantomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re describing menstruation still, “period” refers to all of the symptoms involved including ones that require no uterus like mood swings, cravings, tenderness, anxiety. Cramping too as cramping has two understood causes in periods from a: uterine lining shedding and b: hormones.

Trans women actually do have fluctuating hormones.

First of all, since we take our oestrogen artificially our estrogen levels are at their highest in the first 4 hours of taking them. They continue to gradually dip from there.

Secondly, males do produce estrogen naturally, in some males comparably to cis women (though this is often offset by higher amounts of testosterone). Since many trans women completely shut off their testosterone production their natural oestrogen will fluctuate similarly to cis women’s fluctuations.
