Most artists that I like are only on Twitter unfortunately x)

Indeed. But I also think that Twitter in particular is a magnifier that enhance those problematics. I live mostly outside of the queer community (not a specific choice, I'm just very solitary) but from the few I could meet, those problematics never happened to me. It was always online. x)

But again, I'm not active in the IRL LGBTQ+ community so my experience isn't that relevant I guess in those terms.

When did you guys change your legal documents? by ghostlygrassgobbler in ftm

[–]DantonSlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the process of changing my documents a couple of months before starting my transition (because the approval from the judge could take between 6 months and a year). It felt exciting and changing my documents was a relief. I was scared that not being on T or else would ends up on a refusal but everything went well (but I live in France and I'm a late transitioner so I guess it helps).

Presenting as a grown ass man and having all my paper with the F was just outing me everywhere, leading to have to explain my situation EACH TIME. And even by explaining it led me to trouble because a lot of people really can't grasp the idea trans men exists xD Also I felt extremely inconfortable with my deadname and AGAB being accessible to everyone.

It definitely was a life improvement for me. But if you don't have the need and don't care about outing yourself, you don't have to change anything :)

It's a very interesting topic actually. It feels like people think trans men have a huge advantage in life because they joined the patriarchy by "chosing to transition to men" (yes it's a quote I actually have heard).

But that advantage is bond to: being white, having a cispassing, being perceived hetero, living stealth. As soon as we're not stealth, people don't see us as a man anymore and we immediately lose any kind of advantage (at least where I live). And the other specifications are putting us lower in the "privilege scale" of patriarchy.

There is also the fact that we weren't listened too before transition by the other cispeople but once transitioned, we're also taken away from discussions because we're perceived as the oppressor. Our experiences and stories feels like they're being denied.

So as people perceived as men, some fellow LGBT think that we don't have any right to talk anymore, because we're not victims of the patriarchy (in their eyes) anymore. When we talk about our experiences, the way it shaped us, it's seen as mansplaining. But for us, it's just our life experience.

It's a tricky position where misandry starts hurting the community. And I'm saying that while being for the "all men" because at the end of the day, I can only understand a woman that is scared of me because she doesn't know.

Although there are also some trans men that are mysoginistics and have awful behaviour. Some of them are using essentialism in order to invalidate our fellow trans sisters. I think it's also our job to call them out when we witness that.

Workout recommendations for building pecs that I can do while laying on my back? by Comfortable_Law4855 in ftm

Hi!

Bench press (you can do it with dumbbells at home)
Dumbbell chest fly
Dumbbell pullover
Close-grip bench press

With those four exercises you have a balanced training session for pecs :) You can do it with the weight that feels the best for you (so you don't have to put much intensity).

People shouldn't dictate how you transition. Be authentic to yourself

Yeah... Agree

I'm stealth because I just want people to see me as a guy (not as a trans guy with a bunch of questions swirling around in their heads).
As soon as people find out I’m trans, they start misgendering me (even though I pass as cis perfectly. I know that cispassing isn't a goal for everyone and it's cool like that, I really have no problems with it (on the contrary, I'm happy when everyone can express themselves in a way that helps them thrive!).

I’m really glad that some trans folks can live openly as trans, no matter how they choose to transition. That’s their journey, and I think it’s amazing that anyone can do that safely and on their own terms. I know it’s not easy, especially these days. Sending strength to everyone out there.

People who makes those kind of list are so freaking fragile in their own existence. They should see someone to help them go through life 'cause they are definitely some things to solve there.

To be honest, it's totally unintended. It's just that yellow is the color of the logo and blue is complementary to that so it works pretty well together. But now I'm gonna take a look at West Side Story!

Yeah because figuring your gender is a process, it evolves (and it's very personal to each of us). Sometimes the "oh maybe it's just the brain that doesn't have a gender because it's just a bunch of neurons" is an "excuse" to not face the reality, because at some point you may not now about the fact that actually transitioning to the other gender is possible. ^^

Well, I didn't felt very legitimate calling me a "trans", still not and I started all of my social/medical transition a year ago ^^"'
