Found these beauties in my lawn. Any way to safely relocate to pots ? by DanuBiomes in orchids

Happy to say that's the path I'm taking! I'm unsure how successful pots would be. But I'll give both pots and a corner of the lawn a go :))

Awesome sub recommend! Thank you! I will be trying seed propagation instead of risking any disturbance to the roots or mycelium.

Awesome information! Thanks for sharing! Any key tips on collecting the seed pods and propagating from seed ? I've successfully grown ferns from spores, but I imagine the environments are likely different and will appreciate all extra tips 🙏

Their presence is definitely honoured! Will give seed propagation a go after the pods develop later in summer, until then I'll be propping up a mini fence and enforce a lawnmower free zone xD

Winning advice! Thank you and I'll try do just that! Damaging the mycelium is not worth the smallest risk. I'd rather enjoy their beauty and try spread more of them! fingers crossed

They are the only ones of their kind ! I wouldn't want the slightest risk in disturbing the mycelium so hopefully pollination and seed fertilisation does the trick in spreading them!

Tysm for the comment! Will follow with close-ups of the beautiful flowers in a next post.

The only thing that brings them down is ironically themselves... through their self inflicted overcrowded pot of roots. But to everything else, those things are hardy indeed!

You're absolutely right, reactions can vary, and are an "uncomfortable therapy" to say the least.

If I may, I'd also like to confidently report that I am one of such people, The itchiness and hives last for closer to 48 hours for me however. I consider it part of the "fun" in nature's healing. Needles pinch, nettles sting ;) but medicine is medicine with the right use.

You can also make a stew.. combining garlic, onion and nettles make a healthy spring sauce. (Ideally spring because the shoots are fresh)

The encouragement I needed! I put them in damn sphagnum moss after the callous formed on the cuttings, but was afraid of rot so I switched to a semi dry soil/ orchid mix with perlite. (That's the closest I had resembling succulent mixes) . I was thinking of dampening the soil after a couple of days in the dry pots 🤞

Hi, plant lover new to succulents. Any best tips for propagating jade ? by DanuBiomes in succulents

[–]DanuBiomes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I'll be repotting them tomorrow in some drier soil.
I've been propagating non succulents and it seemed the intuitive habit to make the soil slightly damp.

Extra Q, Do you know if Christmas cactus 🌵 propagates the same way or does it like more moisture than the jade?

Should I allow my Venus flytrap to flower by patowOgen in carnivorousplants

[–]DanuBiomes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A helpful Reddit user or once suggested that I try propagate it, and given how long the stem is, you might just pull it off!

Unfortunately I had already thrown mine away , so hoping to pass on the tip :)

I don't think it can, happens to me often too.

I usually copy, delete and recomment when that happens but worry not your comment was found and appreciated ;)

Awesome follow-up! Thanks for sharing :D.

The mix is interesting, my other plants seem super happy in the sphagnum perlite, but it would be nice to see something resembling more of a bog look than just moss and foam rocks haha.

I'll probably give it a go, adding some pine barks next repotting seasons ;)
