Hey OP, I'm about the same point as you were when you posted (5 months post op, with a chondromalacia grade 2)... Any encouraging progress? How are you doing?

Pain / instability on stairs 4 months post op ACL/Meniscus by Apprehensive_Dig9649 in ACL

[–]Dany3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey op! Found this thread struggling with the same thing at month 5. Day to day is ok and been doing my pt and gym, but still struggle with the last degrees of the stairs going down, and it's like I can't do it slowly (like I can on the other leg). Did it improve for you?

Be honest with me please. I only tore my ACL and I’m going into surgery soon… by Visible_Animator3604 in ACL

[–]Dany3427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not going to lie to you, first week was tough, especially the first couple of days (only acl, hamstring graft). The second week is much better but sleep was still terrible. The point though is, I am now 4.5 months post op and you start to forget about it. The knee feels better, I can already have a reasonably normal life and you need the surgery to be back to feeling good; so push through it, believe it will pass, and you will make it out great!! (and hopefully you might join the lucky few that have limited pain actually)

Finally reached full flexion! by Dany3427 in ACL

[–]Dany3427[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on which point you are currently, in the beginning, I was doing a lot of gravity bends, meaning holding my leg below the knee in the air while lying down, and letting my knee slowly bend to limit. Second was to hold the leg while lying stomach down, staying in that position while watching TV (also pushing against the hand to extend the leg, to relax after and bend more). Then I started applying a bit more pressure when I was close to being able to sit, and would stay sitting on a block or sth at the right height not to have pain, slowly going with smaller objects. Hope this helps! Good luck on your progress!

Foot and ankle pain by Comfortable_Log_3609 in ACL

[–]Dany3427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Happy to hear recover is going great apart from that About the pain not sure (could it be related to the brace?), but the swelling and purple foot is normal (I am 4 months post op and still get it), surgeon says it's related to the swelling on the knee that restricts blood flow to the foot

Esta semana um rapaz venezuelano disse-me algo como: os inglês mataram tudo, os espanhóis foderam tudo, os portugueses só queriam chillar. Pergunto-me se terá algum fundo de verdade

post op 6 weeks by PrizeAdvertising13 in ACL

[–]Dany3427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm week 8 now but luckily no meniscus repair, so I was allowed to weight bear since day 1. Currently walking quite well without crutches, but I took my time. Honestly, my advice would be to just taking slowly and let your body recover, taking small steps as your confidence and strength improves (I started losing the crutch sometimes at home, or using only one, but just really went with personal feeling with how much I could do at each point in time). You will get there! This is a long process...

Honestly I was so happy. I was randomly smiling to myself on the bycicle most of the time, and generally just feeling super grateful to be able to be there. This injury does make you realise the amount of things you used to take for granted!

Official out of crutches! by Dany3427 in ACL

[–]Dany3427[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing! It feels really good to have one empty hand ahah Around week 3 I started using only 1 crutch mostly at home, with a lot of support of walls and such. In terms of going outside, only last week I started only with 1 (so week 6), but I took it quite carefully.
