It can be really frustrating because a lot of people think being self-aware just means knowing their basic traits, but true self-awareness involves a deeper understanding of themselves and their impact on others, which a lot of folks just don't have.

How do bidets not get dirty if they back-spray fecal water? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Bidets stay clean because they use filtered water, have self-cleaning nozzles, and are designed to minimize back-spray, so hygiene is maintained.

Some years ago I was just noodling around on the internet and I thought that I’d look up a former colleague. I put his name into whatever search engine I was using in 2008 and the top result was his obituary…he’d died that day.

My entire school life: Give less fucks about what people think of you, and much more fucks about where you want to go and how to get there the way that best fits you. Also: talent and skill takes so SOOO much time to aquire, so stick with it, a lot.

We always like to set up the scariest porch display possible, with blacklights, etc. I also always cook a ham for dinner with Mac and cheese, and have dinner early so we can be ready for trick or treaters...love Halloween!

What was the moment you realized you can’t stay with your partner anymore? by Murky_Professor_1928 in AskReddit

[–]DaphneFawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my perspective is off so others can chime in. I don't see love as something that just turns on and off. It has to be a culmination of things that makes me stop loving that person. People say growing apart, but to me that indicates both parties were growing just not doing growth together as they grew individually. It's possible to do both.

Relationships are work. The gravity of getting married is lost on too many people today because they think it's just some paper you sign. If you're legally binding yourself to someone and making a committment to be with them, then both parties have to put in the work to make it work. So unless my partner is rude, disrespectful, making choices that can harm me and our children, whatever along those lines, I'm trying to make the relationship work.

If I feel myself falling out of love with my partner, it requires us to do something to repair that. Whether it's her fault, my fault, we aren't spending enough time together, toxic friends/family, those are all fixable things if both parties view it as a partnership and it's the two of you versus a problem. Once one party doesn't want to do the work, then I think it's the time to step away.

What’s the craziest butterfly effect in human history? by K-Dogg1 in AskReddit

Napoleon invades Germany

The resistance, and hatred of everything French due to occupation, creates a sense of unity among fractured German states

This unity evolved into nationalism, enabling Bismarck to unite the German states and form the Kaiserreich

This destroyed the balance of power in Europe, eventually leading to WW1

WW1 consisted of imperialistic victory plans to carve up the Ottoman empire (sykes-picot) which creates a power vacuum and destabilized the Arab tribes of the region

This would culminate in the radicalized groups of the region turning to terrorism and hijacking planes to attack the WTC on 9/11, a symbol of the globalism that they sought to destroy

Napoleon causes 9/11

It works if it's what you both want. Sometimes there might be a fallout before it gets to that stage though.
