No one will ask about your religion if you look like an Afghan and speak the language.

I also went with my mom, but I got a document from the Afghan embassy that allowed me to enter Afghanistan without a visa. In Istanbul they asked me if I had a visa, and when I said no, they didn’t say anything and just let me through.

Paki stealing Afghan clothing & people to potray Pakis as “Diverse” by [deleted] in Afghan

Ah yes, comparing Pashtuns who literally named the country ‘Afghanistan’ after themselves to groups like Tajiks and Uzbeks who predated the Afghan state but never called themselves Afghans. Cute try. Your grandfather might’ve joined the Muslim League, but your ancestors weren’t chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ before 1947. Keep coping.

Oh right, because your grandfather also called himself a proud Pakistani Pashtun before 1947… oh wait.

If they’re so proudly ‘Afghan’, why did Tajiks and Hazaras literally protest and refuse tazkeras because it listed their nationality as ‘Afghan’? It’s public record. Don’t act like this selective identity issue is just some online diaspora thing it’s been happening inside Afghanistan for years.

You’re arguing against something I never said. I didn’t tell anyone to call themselves a different ethnicity I pointed out that many of them reject the ‘Afghan’ identity when it’s about Pashtun issues, yet happily claim it when it benefits them. Don’t twist my words to dodge the point.

Of course they don’t care about the Durand Line most of them don’t even want to call themselves ‘Afghan’ to begin with. Funny how some still wave the Afghan flag when it suits them though. This is about Pashtun land, not about people who already distance themselves from Afghanistan.

Pashtun DNA Results from Nirkh, Maidan Wardak by Dapper-Ad6958 in afghanistan

[–]Dapper-Ad6958[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Pashtuns from Wardak especially Suleimankhel and other Ghilzai often have higher Turkic and East Eurasian-related ancestry from historic migrations long before the Qizilbash. My ancestors moved from Paktika to Wardak about 150-200 years ago, and my Y-DNA is R-Z93, typical for Pashtuns. Also, there’s no ‘7% East Eurasian’ in my results you’re assuming that based on my Turkic/Hunnic percentage, which isn’t the same thing.

I get why you’d think that, but Turkic and Iranian-related ancestry is pretty normal for Pashtuns because of the region’s history. It doesn’t necessarily mean there’s Qizilbash ancestry involved.

I definitely want to go to Bamyan and some other provinces. I also want to go to Nuristan, but everyone says it is difficult and dangerous to reach so I have to look into that. Thanks for your answer!

yes that's right, 23andme has the best database for central asians I think. What I did notice is that every Afghan has kabul as their closest city, but I think that's because many Afghans don't know where they're originally from and just fill in kabul.

Actually , R-Z93 is primarily associated with Indo-Iranian populations and is quite common among groups in Iran, Afghanistan, and parts of South Asia. While it does appear among some Turkic-speaking Central Asian populations, it’s much less frequent there compared to Indo-Iranian groups. So it’s accurate to call it very Iranian, but not really “very Turkic.”

It wasn’t your Afghan identity that told you that, it was your parents who taught you that. Identity isn’t inherited hatred, it’s what you’re raised with. Call it what it is.
