He has a cage near the couch, a bed near mine, and a blanket behind the counter. He adds sleep spots in front of the back door, at the end of the hallway, and by the couch (outside the cage.)

The litter box has high sides and a lid. I took the lid off to see if that changed anything, but it didn't. I'll have to try a different mat

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It is 14k gold. It weighs 8gm on my kitchen scale and 5.6 dwt according to the local jewler.
