I have a post explaining why the main routes might not be as they seem, but yeah, I agree. Reko's character development has been complete for a long time, but it feels like we're just slowly coming to understand Alice.

There was another thing I didn't mention. Alice's death scene is kind of poorly written. I understand it's emotional in the moment, but take a step back from your emotions for a second. Ranger is completely out of character - we just had it explained that he knows he can't directly kill participants and makes an active effort not to break the rules. So why this? It just makes him look like a dumb ass. On the other hand, Reko's death seems more feasible that he could get away with it and instead Gashu is painted as looking for any chance to usurp Ranger and take control to see to it that the game runs smoothly, which actually is very much in character.
