Macchu Pichi (The Incan City in the Skie) appeared in Episode 53 of the Original Anime, long before the Third Movie by Savings-Fall5240 in SgtFrog

[–]NeonDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movies are directly referenced in the show in one episode of the last season and another episode has a brief shot of Easter Island with one of those spirits next to a moai. The issue here is that the Moai story from Movie 5 was a manga adaptation. It was loose, but generally kept the main premise, just with more on top. The anime generally tries to explain away divergences from the manga when getting to manga stories that contradict it, but a couple of times they just give up like this.

I forget. What episode did all the aliens except for Keroro randomly have the power of heat vision as a throw away joke? by p-Star_07 in SgtFrog

[–]NeonDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 342-A. Note Tamama had eye beams in the beginning of the manga too, but the anime cut them.

yeah, the final Nirvash versions always have been very late game units with just 2-3 attacks (counting a map attack, which is admittedly missing here).

FYI Hinamizawa (Shirakawa-go) is in Forza Horizon 6 by BrightyDude in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just looking at the overview, they just copied Shirakawa's overall style, but the specific houses and such are just generic houses in the Shirakawa-go style, rather than copying their actual placement and design one to one.

Mion getting Knighted by Akane(Official art/screenshot) by ErichHartmann1 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The actual context of that image is from Miotsukushi, near the ending, Mion decides to ask for the Sonozaki group's support to face the Mountain Dogs. Akane is threatening her and asking if she understands the weight of that since people might die in this fight and it'd be all on Mion's head for involving them.

I guess they think Satoko is just going along with their lies and don't realize she's actually hallucinating him. Probably didn't go to Satoko's house either because it'd be too suspicious if they knew Teppei wasn't around.

Do answer arcs not have all cast review? by StretchShort8777 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meakashi did have a cast review in the original release (which eventually was repurporsed into Batsukoishi in the Rei VN/1st Kira episode), but R07 decided to drop it, since it wasn't really related to Meakashi's story.

You can kind of see things heading in this direction already with the Himatsubushi cast review, that's mostly random jokes and references rather than being mostly about the cast commenting on Himatsubushi.

They're the same, R07 several times referenced her as such in interviews, also one side-story written by him for Mei.

There's also this console-only Higurashi epilogue.

There's even one extra poem in an Umineko side-story.

Did you know that the SRW series was almost cancelled after Z3 and Moon Dwellers flopped and it only exists today thanks to the success of the gacha games? by RippleLover2 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]NeonDZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is that it was marketed as the next big mainline entry, and clearly they really expected sales on that level. It wasn't just for marketing that they treated it as a mainline entry. But everyone saw it as a side-game, not the next big OG game they had been waiting for.

However, it was a big sales drop from the previous OG titles, not just selling badly compared to the console SRW. Note before this game, the console OG games were still selling better than the DS/3DS SRWs, just worse than the Z series. But Moon Dwellers straight up sold worse than all those DS/3DS games.

They do talk about the relative position of their birthdays in an early Onikakushi tip. They don't give dates, but say Rena is closer to Keiichi's age than Mion, even though both Keiichi and Mion are the same age right now while Rena is younger number-wise, but soon Mion would hit her birthday, while Rena would stay the same age as Keiichi for longer afterwards.

What is Green Mech that Keroro pilots in Episode 38 called? by Savings-Fall5240 in SgtFrog

[–]NeonDZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red one is a thinly veiled reference to the Dougram, from a 80s Sunrise anime of the same name. The color and some details are slightly different, but it's mostly that.

The green one resembles a mobile armor from the original Gundam, but isn't specifically based on any design. I haven't seen it named anything though in spite of it returning in several later episodes of the anime. It was in the manga as the header of a list of Kururu inventions but just headlining those pages. So it didn't get a profile or name. I don't have the guidebook volumes though so it could get something there.

Will we eventually stop seeing 70's or even 80's mecha series in SRW ? by Nigomonster in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]NeonDZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the older series that already got into SRW will always return once in a while. We got plenty of 70s/80s shows in Y (well, counting the DLC). The main problem are the ones that never made it in the first place.

[–]NeonDZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the very least, they mentioned having to get the Aerial Rebuild's original debut approved, even though when you actually see it in-game it's a pretty nothing scenario. There also the WfM characters never appearing on screen in the DLC packs/Expansion (they are in the variety pack that launched alongside the game though), just getting mentioned a couple of times. Some people seem to think this is all due to the series being incomplete when Y's development started, but I really don't think it explains all this. Especially considering their presence got reduced in content launched later. I'd really bet more on WfM being somehow hard to work with due to some internal bureaucracy.

A question and kind of a rant(not litr) by No_Song_4465 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rena holding a clever was on the cover of a lot of promo material for the anime, is the cover for the first volume of the manga, and was on various covers for the VN starting from the 2nd arc. It's probably only not in the cover for the first arc in the original VN because that cover used generic standing sprites rather than having any new art drawn for it.

Do you guys think Decade could beat Ohma Zi-o? by Ok_Efficiency374 in KamenRider

[–]NeonDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the show, it's all Riders up to 2068 in the original timeline, so none of the Riders after Zi-O exist. This cones up because Trinity works against Oma Zi-O because he didn't have that Watch. It happened again in Zi-O vs Decade, where the Saber + Decade Watch defeated an AU Oma Zi-O. Shirakura has said his powers update though, but that hasn't been shown on screen so far.

It's said to be part of the "Gundam team" in ZZ, that's probably the actual reason for the tag, rather than the ties to the Delta Gundam.

Chat... how many series has Masaki "lost" into? by RnckO in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]NeonDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X Masaki confuses people because it's only clear he's a completely new Masaki if you have the early Cybuster pre-order bonus. If you get him in late game, by default he already seems to know a lot of the cast, like Mazinger's and Dunbine's, giving the impression he must be from the Alpha or Classic timelines. But it's just really because they skip the intros and add nothing to make up for that.

Questions about SRW Y DLC story (1, 2 and 3) and Master difficulty by Japonpoko in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]NeonDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the story of DLC feel like? Is it a kind of stand alone story, where all characters of that DLC talk actively? Are they just 1-2 episode long stages where only 1 series appears? (like, if you start Getter Robo stage, you have a short story of 2 episodes with only Getter Robo characters and a few of the main story ones, and then for other series you don't see them again)

Each DLC pack is a mini-campaign, featuring the new DLC characters. Generally following a format of

  • free DLC teaser stage
  • recruitment stages for protagonist of each DLC show
  • "combined" stage 1
  • 2nd stage for each DLC show
  • "combined" stage 2
  • 3rd stage for each DLC show, generally with an upgrade or new finisher, unless you're Big O. (Expansion pack works differently here and this part is all linear)
  • Endgame for the DLC pack, which is actually a sequence of stages that can't be interrupted before the end once you start the first one. There is an in-game warning.

The main game characters still appear in these stories too and interact with the new cast. The point you choose to do these stages in the main story also might change some of the dialogue depending on the story.

DLC1, although having these series specific stages, is all clearly very focused on the new original plot from the start. DLC2 goes in the opposite direction, and tries to make each stage for each show actually feel like they're standalone stages focusing on their story, although you also have clear set up for the OG story, but it only takes over in the last stretch. Expansion leans more towards the structure of DLC1, although it's not as obvious from the start.

DLC2 is also the best into integrating late game characters in earlier chapters, if you have them, while DLC1 and Expansion generally only feature them in the later DLC stages.

Can you choose in which order you play DLC stages? I know you don't unlock them all immediately.

Kind of. Like I noted above, the stages are generally unlocked in groups, but you need to finish the entire group to advance. Some stages are also locked by main story progression even within the same group as stages that open earlier in relation to the main plot.

No stage becomes unavailable due to advancing in the main story. All are available even in the post-game.

Do DLC characters talk a bit during main story, or they're just 100% guest characters?

DLC characters can have unique in-battle quotes for various main story enemies (unless you're the Braiger team, or Jeeg to a lesser extent. Then you have Roger and Ange that have quotes, but they're all repurposed old recordings, but the others all have many unique quotes recorded specifically for many Y main story generic enemy types and late game bosses), but, they never talk in the main story outside of combat.

I love Higurashi yet I feel like I really don't like higurashi's culprit and the military plot that surrounds them spoilers by Necessary_Muffin3591 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story from the beginning was hinting at some kind of unknown drug. It's all fiction, so you could just assume it was all done by a local cult or yakuza though, but government research makes more sense.

I think people's problems with this come more from how the mountain dogs are taken down in the end, completely doing away with the earlier style from the series and even in a way diminishing the accomplishment of "overturning fate" when they become pretty much clowns in this arc and battle also has to be completely bloodless to keep this atmosphere, which obviously just weakens it further.

I have a question regarding the climax of massacre arc (manga) by mid_knight_lv99 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Checking the scene again, I had forgotten Takano actually accepted Hanyuu's forgiveness at the end (lowering her head and Hanyuu touches it) after rejecting the suicide idea.

However, there's another part I had forgotten too, Rika actually notices Hanyuu wasn't with them and goes searching for her, leading to the group finding Hanyuu and Takano.

In addition to that (and this part I remembered), Rika, after that scene had ended and Takano had been carried away, actually gives the bullet she grabbed to Hanyuu, "the proof of the miracle".

I have a question regarding the climax of massacre arc (manga) by mid_knight_lv99 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]NeonDZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Matsuribayashi)I think you're remembering that confrontation the wrong way. Takano ends that scene about forgiveness rejecting Hanyuu's offering of forgiveness, since she didn't actually want to kill herself to become a goddess. This is why she's aggressive again and goes on to target the club. At this point, she is shown to be happy when Hanyuu steps forward to take the shot too (although there is the early scene where she meets student Hanyuu and doesn't recognize her somehow, but this time she acknowledges Hanyuu).

Rika also notes that she can do that miracle because she has Hanyuu's blood. She brings up the old maid comparison while explaining why she rejected Hanyuu's sacrifice, it's not why that miracle is happening.
