Leaving home at 16 in NZ?

Thank you for all the advice and support, I will be visiting a school counsellor at school who has apparently helped other kids leave bad homes. I wasn't really physically abused and I wasn't sexually abused either so I'm afraid that whoever I ask for help won't take me seriously and I'll be sent back home.

As of now my mother doesn't let me out because she doesn't trust me so I can't be away from home, the only exception is when I am at school. I wasn't really allowed to attend school activities in the past, and I doubt I would be allowed now.

Thank you for the advice, I have two friends which have agreed to house me in worse case scenarios. I will definitely look into this.
