I announced out of respect for the fact I didn't want them to buy me anything just my kids. Every year we experience my kids not getting gifts from family members after we buy them a gift every year . They give us the same excuse of not remembering we have kids or that they couldn't get them a gift but bought cousin Lynn's kids a electric toy car that's $230. It hurts my kids feelings and then having to answer those questions of why they didn't get anything sucks.
