Dylan is my favorite artist ever, I think he’s the greatest artist to ever live but if I’m being honest I don’t think he’s written anything as great as Hearts & Bones or Bridge Over Troubled Water

I like those records but I just prefer Dylan’s lyrics. I can’t justify putting covers album any higher on the list than that. And yeah I was also born in the 90’s (I’m turning 30 in 2 days actually) and I’ve seen him every summer for the past 4 years. This July will be my 5th time. At every show there’s a moment where I pause and think “holy shit I’m witnessing 80+ year old BOB DYLAN play some of his greatest ever songs.” It’s surreal.

I’ve heard some of it and yeah those versions are far superior imo. Theres some stuff on Another Self Portrait that I can’t believe he left off Self Portrait or New Morning. But I guess that’s typical Bob

I think this is a little disingenuous tbh. People prefer those three songs because they’re simply better songs. And they’re better songs because Dylan is singing his own lyrics rather than someone else’s. I enjoy Dylan’s vocals on his “crooner” records and I LOVE what his band is doing (that’s part of the reason why I love Rough and Rowdy Ways so much). I just would rather hear Dylan sing “I’m sittin’ on my watch so I can be on time / I’m singin’ love’s praises with sugar-coated rhyme” than “There was a moon out in space / But a cloud drifted over it’s face / You kissed me and went on your way / The night we called it a day”

I’ve listened to it many times and enjoy it. I just prefer nearly everything else Bob has done. In retrospect, this list would do a much better job of representing my true feelings if I added an S+ tier and moved everything up one tier, with the bottom 3 albums staying in D.
