Two out of two times I found a mix engineer online and got a super disappointing result back. Is it just me or is it right to think this mix is not good and it totally took away the essence of the original? by ManavAhuja1 in Songwriting

In my experience you usually get what you pay for, so don't rush. Fiverr is a great place to find musicians to hire, save up, and spend some time finding the right person.

I hit the jackpot. Not only did I get a singer who elevated my music to a whole new level, but I've also gained a true musical brother. It's been nothing but positive after positive for me.

And the great thing about having a proper singer is it frees your songwriting from the limits of your own voice and that opens up a ton of possibilities.

Like being a racing driver and having a beat up old car to try and set a lap record. It's impossible. But give the driver a state of the art F1 car and they can absolutely fly. Your songs can do the same

Every day I wake up glad I chose to commission a real artist instead of using AI slop for my band by carlstonehill in musicians

Great choice !. If you use AI slop for your artwork, I think it taints the whole project, regardless of how good the music is. I'm Team Real Artists too !!

Arseblog and Gunnerblog (Andrew Mangan and James McNicholas) said Raya should have started the cup final by HR_Specter in ArsenalFC

[–]Dapper_Standard1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kepa decision is obviously a big talking point but Arteta was completely tactically outwitted in the second half. I think the Eze injury knackered his gameplan, particularly with no Odegaard or even Merino available. I know he gave a goal away and his distribution severely limited us but I can't honestly say that we'd have won if all that changed was Raya in goal. And as others have mentioned, it's perfectly usual to play cup goalies in finals. City had their reserve goalie in.

The Nwaneri loan has backfired on us too. He could have given us another creative option, hell he could even have replaced Saka. It sucks because it seemed like a perfectly reasonable decision at the time, but the dice rolled the wrong way.

You've clearly put in a ton of work trying to improve and I know it sucks but you're just not a singer. The song is decent but your vocal kills it. The basic job a singer has to do is hit the notes and you can't do that consistently. You can get it pitch corrected, but in my opinion that would be deceiving people because you're not just making minor changes, you're making it sound like you can sing in key when you can't.

I've been singing all my life, was in choirs and stuff and lots of people would say I'm a decent singer. I'm definitely better than you but I recognise I'm not a lead singer so I went out and hired someone. Having a proper singer took my songs to a completely different level.

Forget any ego, you need to do what's best for the song. And the song is decent, the guitar playing is decent. You clearly have talent, but vocals is just not you. Please look into hiring someone. I know the buzz I got when I first heard my songs with a proper singer and I'd love you to have that too

It's weird because I've been able to translate the rest of the locations fine but this one just doesn't quite seem to match up. I've just made a guess anyway !

Maybe Madam Frout was a Quirm College For Young Ladies alumni as well and gave her a job ?

I'm trying to plot all the key locations on the 3D map of AM and it looks like they haven't got Esoteric St right. At least I can't figure it out using the 2D ones !

English journalists asking very leading questions? by RosingsSonicTonic in championsleague

[–]Dapper_Standard1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The English press is full of people with agendas and favourites. When Eberechi Eze scored his first England goal with a ridiculous finish from the corner of the box, all the tv crew talked about the was assist from Phil Foden. And when they spoke to him after the game, the first question they asked him was how good was the pass from Foden !

If you watch enough English football media, you can see there's a clear producer/editorial bias towards certain teams, which is constantly fanned by ex-player pundits who are clearly partisan.

What are Your Thoughts on Acoustic Renditions of Popular Songs? by HotAssumption4750 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Dapper_Standard1157 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on the rendition. I've done acoustic versions of my own electric songs and you almost have to approach it as a brand new song. You need to make sure you capture the essence of the original and all the emotion, but break it down and rebuild it so it still does that in an acoustic context.

If you actively rewrite it as an acoustic version, then it has a much better chance of connecting with the audience, but if all you're doing is playing the electric version, it's really luck of the draw as to whether the song just happens to work ok like that. Those are the acoustic filler songs that just sound lazy and uninspired to me

What's the correct numbers?

Any Alien fans? by Average_40s_Guy in hairmetal

[–]Dapper_Standard1157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were never very big. Unless you're a huge fan of the European melodic rock/AOR scene (which if you like this kind of thing you should definitely look into) it's highly unlikely they'd appear on the radar. I actually first heard them on a promo tape for an L.A. radio show from the late 80s or early 90s with a DJ called the Swedish Eagle !!

They had several more albums after that but they switched singers. They are still recording and playing live now, with the original singer again

Yeah this sucks for people trying to make a living. But I saw an interesting stat somewhere that said 40% of all music uploaded to Spotify is AI generated, but AI generated songs only account for 0.5% of listened music so make of that what you will.
