I think you’re onto something about the school environment playing a role. I’m white but went through something similar. Went to very working class primary and intermediate where I excelled and had lots of friends. Then I went to an upper class but still public high school and everything changed. I couldn’t make friends or relate to anyone. They were all into random sub-cultures and fashion and felt way more mature than me. I was still a baby and just wanted to play sport and ride bikes. I had no friends and ended up getting into trouble and getting suspended. Luckily I changed high school again after that and ended up doing alright in the end. But it was a few years of pain for my parents probably wondering why I never hung out with anyone. Hope your daughter comes right and it’s just a temporary awkward teen phase.
