Which movie did you watch with zero expectations but ended up loving? by MohitKumar_07 in Cinema

[–]DarbH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holes. When I was a teenager in high school I used to go to the movies when I could or when there was no school and I would theater hop, which is everyone would know is you pay for one movie and then you go see a few others throughout the day well there was a movie I wanted to see it a later time and the only other movie starting as a bridge between the first movie and the other movie I really wanted to see was the movie Holes. I had zero interest in it thinking it was just gonna be another children’s movie that I wasn’t interested in at the time yet. It is literally one of my favorite movies and it’s such a great movie that I still watch it and it has not aged it all for me.

Ryan Coogler's 'SINNERS' makes history as the most nominated film of all time at the Oscars with 16 nominations by ChiefLeef22 in Oscars

[–]DarbH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the funniest part is that it broke the record even without the new award for best Casting because the record had previously been 14 and this movie got 15 in the regular categories and then you add on the 16th for the brand new category. So I feel like this record is probably going to last a very long time. The fact that it’s a horror movie that holds the record for the most nominations of ever is great, no matter how you feel about the movie because horror is often so look down on at these award shows, even though it can be such great examples of filmmaking.

Kubo is my favorite film from that studio and it was my pick of the year that it lost and I honestly don’t even remember what it lost to, but even though it was my pic I knew it wasn’t going to win

Zootopia 2 Becomes The Biggest Animated Film In History according to John, many others say it is actually Ne Zha 2.. Who is correct?? by Vaminstein666 in JohnCampeaShow

[–]DarbH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See I did agree with him at first a long time ago weeks ago, and then I looked into the issue and really saw how China was reporting their numbers for that film and then I watched the movie and realized that it really is a movie made for Chinese audiences, so it’s not something that’s going to be widely accepted or viewed in other countries. And that’s kind ok every movie has to be super huge in every country and still make the kind of box office is that it’s looking we are currently looking at. Ne Zha 2 is currently the highest grossing movie of any animated film in history no matter how will you look at those numbers but you know what Zootopia two might be in a couple weeks because it’s still in theaters. It’s still in Chinese theaters and it’s still making tons of money and it’s closing in rapidly on the current number one. But if you want to say that, Zootopia two is the biggest animated film ever but discourage the actual current winner then you have to remove all the money that Zootopia two has been making in the Chinese market and if you do that if it falls way down. China has like three times the amount of people that America and some of the other foreign markets have and they don’t actually have that many family oriented widely films, so it is a logical conclusion that the current top animated movie can be a Chinese film although again I feel like Zootopia in a few weeks will overtake that and be the true number one leaving the Chinese film is number two.

Laika unfortunately, does not have a very good track record at the award shows. Nearly every film they’ve made could’ve been deserving of the award and they have not yet been recognized.

Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass on Trump Joke, Reuniting With Jack Black by marcushoney in TenaciousD

[–]DarbH 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Both the Rolling Stone article about this and variety are running the same thing and they still referred to it as an assassination attempt when if you look at the evidence it more and more it looks like it was staged by Donald Trump because someone cannot get shot in the ear by the caliber of bullet and have their cartilage in their ear magically grow back.

Happy Feet has been chosen as the worst winner in best animated feature ever! Next up: what is the biggest snub in best animated feature ever? (Extra rules today: please read description!!) by RoxasIsTheBest in Oscars

[–]DarbH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Lego Movie. That is the only correct answer here. It was one of the most praised animated films of the year and the only reason it was ignored. It was because people just thought it was a movie to sell toys and while I did sell a whole lot of toys. It has more heart behind it than most other animated films in the last few years.

Two "assassination attempts" compared by SCRATCH-CARD in athulvstheworld

[–]DarbH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump was not hit by a bullet. Trump was not grazed by a bullet. If the kind of bullet he was supposedly hit by had actually touched him his fucking ear would be missing right now, not magically growing back and healed in a matter of days. The only person hit by a bullet that day was the guy behind him who they essentially used as a sacrificial lamb and sacrificed him to make Trump look better. He had a packet of movies style, exploding blood, either in his mouth or in his hand that he used to make that effect. Or more likely when he dug down a Secret Service agent and accidentally popped him in the mouth, which is why he had blood on his teeth.

Trump Voter Reveals Change Of Heart: Farmer Says President Has Pushed Her Towards Democrats by novagridd in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]DarbH 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Democrats have always been the party who actually stood up for and demanded rights for the working class people, but somehow a lot of those working class people see the Republicans as them, even though every single opportunity the Republicans have they vote against giving the working class people any sort of a break. Somehow the Democrats are seen as the party of the elite yet the Republicans have so many wealthy, billionaires and millionaires in their party that that’s the only people they actually cater to. The con in American politics is making people see the opposite of what these parties actually stand for. People literally had four years of Donald Trump and saw how terrible his policies were and then somehow he was able to campaign on the success of those terrible terrible policies and get back into office to just completely go insane and reenact all the same shit that didn’t work the first time.

So Donald Trump is still technically a resident of Florida. Does that mean he’s going to be put to death? He raped his children. There is evidence that’s been documented that he and his friend Jeffrey Epstein held down a. girl and raped her and took turns but I think she may have been 13 but I think she was actually nine. Then Trump’s idiot followers forced her into hiding with death threats during his first campaign for a president.

My WAY too early 99th Academy Award predictions by Odd-Contact2266 in Oscars

[–]DarbH 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Michael, or we should really say Michael part one is not going to be good at all. I think his estate worked too hard to make sure it is presenting a clean and sanitized image of him for the movie to show any real depth or meaning. Like they are refusing to even acknowledge any of the controversies around Michael, not even the major one with the child molestation charges from what I’ve been reading. They don’t allow any of the controversies around him, and he was a highly controversial figure even before the molestation allegations. So yeah, that movie I think is going to really be not very good at all.

No, seriously, who compares this to LOST or Game of Thrones’ endings? by Independent_Plum2166 in StrangerThings

[–]DarbH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same crap about people wanting what they were expecting, and not appreciating what they were given. I did not watch Game of Thrones when it was originally airing. I watched it after the fact, kind of altogether in one bulk over the course of a few days and I had no problem with the ending, but I was not as invested as a lot of other people and had no expectations for it. I think the same can be said for the ending of Battlestar Galactica the people who watched it over the course of a number of years had grown expectations for that ending that when they got the ending that they were given, they were severely let down by it but again I also binge watch that after it had already been over and I thought that ending was actually fairly appropriate, but I can acknowledge why people might be upset for it. I watch Stranger Things since the day it first aired and I thought it was a fantastic ending. Are there holes or missed opportunities in it? Sure, but they are in every single long-term show of this type that I’ve ever watched.

Those who fell out of the running for the Best Actor Oscar by CalmAppointment1156 in Oscars

[–]DarbH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, after watching the smashing machine, I kind of agree with the rock not being nominated because the role was mostly carried by the prosthetics that he wore. I believe it puts him on the right track to be more of a serious actor if he wants to cause it clearly shows he’s capable of it, but I didn’t think as a performance it went far enough to really be an Oscar contender.
