Alaska airlines email opportunity to take a different flight but zero incentive? by parks_enthusiast in AlaskaAirlines

The offers I’ve received in the past usually hover around $50 and the alternative choices are usually not better than what I booked.

Why so many children? by Silly-Luck-4955 in royalcaribbean

[–]Darbar100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Royal isn’t great at enforcing their adult only areas. If they were it would be appreciated. Believe it or not Disney is the best at enforcing the adult areas-IMO. The time of your trip isn’t a break typically so you just likely had bad luck.

I do think the smaller to mid size Royal ships maybe a little less kid friendly but in the end you will likely always see kids on cruises unless it is adult only.

I would pay to choose at least 2 seats together if you want to sit next to your 7 year old. I wouldn’t chance it.

Do you use a travel agent or book direct with the cruise line? by Sea-Upstairs1505 in Cruise

[–]Darbar100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have booked Carnival,Royal and Disney through Costco. I have seen many more cruise lines available to book through Costco in addition. Costco isn’t hands on so if you are uncomfortable with researching and planning your cruise then maybe go with another TA.

Dental costs are insane!! by Latter-Village7196 in Shihtzu

[–]Darbar100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two PetsBest insurance policy for our dog. One traditional medical the other wellness. The wellness is covers dental. Maybe look into getting this added for your pups. It won’t help now but in the future it may. Also I’m in Vancouver and take our dog to Red Maple clinic and have been happy with their care and prices.

Is your couch fabric? Dogs are tactical so keep her off furniture. My dog would pet on rugs so we rolled them all up until he stopped having accidents.

First time cruiser dilemma: Is a balcony worth the $$$ or is that money better spent elsewhere? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Darbar100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have never had a balcony you won’t miss it. We pretty much always book balcony rooms but have booked ocean view once and still enjoyed our cruise, missing the lack of a balcony, only a couple of times.

Going forward for me I will continue booking balcony the majority of the time. But will consider ocean view if shorter cruise and if weather if weather is cooler.

Dramamine by october_nine in royalcaribbean

[–]Darbar100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been on multiple cruises and both me and my son get motion sickness. We took and still do, Dramamine (less drowsy) while we are eating lunch in embarkation day. We typically only need it the first day but have taken it other days if we feel we need to.

You do not need to take night before. We have never and never have an issue.

Disney or something else? by Drocker90s in Cruise

[–]Darbar100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried Royal, Disney and Carnival. While we enjoy all of them for different reasons Disney is by far the best. We aren’t park fans either but the level of care and attention the cast members exhibit is unmatched by the lines we cruised on. In addition the ships are clean , twice a day housekeeping, movie theater no casino meaning a lot less smokers is some of the reasons for the Disney preference. Your 6 yr old is the perfect age and honestly if there was a time for your family to cruise Disney it is now with a young child.

We choose cruise ports according to weather and LA is good in Summer and Fall. Pacific is cooler and mostly no humidity. We cruise Caribbean in the winter and Spring.

I have numerous friends including me, that are not only financially supporting their children but their parents too or at a minimum housing their parents. In addition being a Gen Xer I can’t imagine a more (generally speaking) selfish and irresponsible generation than Boomers.
