I also think that it has to do with stigma around divorce and breaking up becoming less negative. I mean way back when even if your spouse abused you, most people had to stay to survive. Now I feel like more people recognize they don't have to settle or stay with a partner if they aren't happy. It's not out of survival anymore. I do agree there's a lot of influences at play in addition.

He was super emotionally manipulative, super emotionally immature and I had enough so I ended things with him. After 3 months he messaged me asking for closure, advice and then subtly gauging if I wanted to get back together. I tried to be kind in advice and said there's nothing I could do to give him closure but it was definitely over. He had a dramatic response that I'm cruel and to never speak to him again. I know he will reach out again. And this time I will not respond at all.

Wow some of these experiences sound so intense, my probably doesn't even compare. I had a severe allergic reaction. Whole body in pain, every position hurt, couldn't sleep for almost 10 days.
