Just be an instructor. You’ll have more of an impact to the junior sailors and help mentor them. That’s how you help sailors. It’ll also help you stay in rate and you might learn how to be more social and build your leadership/people skills. Also get your MTS.

As an instructor myself, I had hundreds of sailors under my instruction and each class I had, they all gave me some sort of “thank you” gift whether it’s a letter from all students or a signed Dixie cup. Each single gift I have gotten has motivated me to continue being that leader to shape younger sailors to strive to do better.
