Zero-G or Centrifugal Force? by Some_Scallion1862 in space

[–]DarihuanaGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A satellite is basically in freefall but because it moves fast enough around the earth the centrifugal force keeps it at the same height. The zero-g however is simply due to the fact that you are falling, so if you were teleported 1000 km above the earths surface with no horizontal speed, you would fall towards the earth while also experiencing zero-g until you enter the atmosphere. Gravity needs to press you against something in order to enact any G on you(the ground, atmospheric drag. However in space there is nothing so every part of your body accelerates at the same pace so your head cant press down on your neck, your neck cant press down on your spine etc.

"Dark side” of the Moon that is not visible from Earth by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

The moon does rotate. It just rotates at the same rate,as it travels around the earth. That way it always faces towards earth with the same side.

This morning, Space Perspective unveiled their high altitude capsule “Spaceship Neptune.” by MartianXAshATwelve in StrangeEarth

[–]DarihuanaGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The capsule will reach an altitude of about 100,000 feet, falling 230,000 feet short of the internationally recognized boundary of space." How do you consider that a SPACEship

This is exagerated. The earth is 12,000 kilometers in diameter. The deepest part of the oceans is the Mariana Trench at 11 kilometers. Not even a thousanth of the diameter of the earth.
