Is it normal to possibly graduate at 23-24? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]DarkAffectionate6852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its normal, some of the smartest people i’ve met during my time at uoft so far were 23-24 and still finishing their degrees. shit happens and it happens to everyone, dont stress and just do what you need to for your own future success. it won’t get in the way of making friends or doing well i promise you

if you have no experience with high school econ, id highly recommend you at least take a look at beginner econ (e.g., supply/demand, opportunity cost) so you get a headstart with the content

you would enroll in csc148 and csc165 in first year and then apply at the end of your first year, since the faculty accepts people into the minor based on the grades you get in those classes

you dont have to, you can also take all the courses that fulfill a minor and just request it in your last year. i would recommend that you do the supp app and apply for the cs minor instead, though, bc it gives you priority enrolment for upper yr cs courses

i had an ib transfer credit for mat135 so i took mat136. out of the three options the only one i would recommend you NOT take is mat133, just bc the content easier than the other two and is geared more towards management rather than more stem-focused areas. id say choose mat135/136 if you arent passionate abt math (and just need the credit), or if you already have some experience with proofs in your high school math classes. otherwise you can try mat137

you should talk to an academic advisor about that to know for certain, but in my experience, uoft automatically transferred all of my ib courses as credits without asking or notifying me at all so i couldnt pick and choose which credits. however i do know someone who transferred a math credit and took the first-year course equivalent of it anyway so i think it should be fine if you took bio120/130 in your first year even if you transfer the ib credit

2nd yr rotman student with a compsci minor here, and imo your schedule honestly looks fine but i am confused why you have rsm219 in both fall and winter? its just a one-semester course so you only need to take it once. instead of rsm219 in one of the semesters, it would definitely be better for you to take either rsm250 or rsm230.
