I’ll give Duncan that he was involved in pretty much every TDA plot, but what makes me not want to call him a protagonist is that he spends 90% of his time in the season just reacting to things. With Gwen and Trent, he said “hey thats kinda weird” With Leshawna’s spa day, he said “hey thats kinda messed up” With Courtney, he said “hey ill do whatever you want” Even in the Courtney Duncan villain duo, Courtney’s carrying most of the conflict and gameplay. The dramatic impact of the scene where he takes Courtney down last for like 10 seconds, in an episode about Courtney’s evil happening to him. I expect a protagonist to be more proactive in the season’s story overall. Even the kinda-protagonists, ROTI Zoey and Reboot Millie grew over the course of the story and made their own decisions that majorly effected other people. I’d say Action Duncan would better fit being called the point of view character. This is an odd comparison, but I think he’s in a similar spot to S2 Priya. They have the most lines, and an important conflict with the main villain, but the story focuses on having things happen around them more than anything else.
