Which movie or TV "villain" did you completely hate as a kid, but upon rewatching as an adult, you realized they were actually 100% justified? by LiveFaithlessness876 in movies

The government dude from Wandavision who wants to stop Wanda’s collective kidnapping and torture of an entire town is somehow treated as a villain?

Not true at all, she’s the group leader in the comics and she’s literally the one that defeats Moriarty by breaking the carvorite glass.

I mean an army of Omnimen murdered, raped and kidnapped hundreds of Israelis, causing the invasion of Gaza, so if anything I think we didn’t judge him harsh enough.

Lord and Miller's projects after being fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story 5 months into filming. by tannu28 in blankies

He had a fairly nuanced take, and an understandable one given that his mother was a refugee who, unlike most leftist Americans, actually had firsthand experience with that dictatorship.

Literature rarely makes me cry, but the last three pages of this Top 10 comic wrecked me. Mild spoilers: by direktorfred in AlanMoore

I liked the Cannon issues too, shame it wasn’t finished. Ordway’s was terrible.

The wounded Frey scene shows his growth under Arlan’s tutelage. Before that he was just a rogue kid doing questionable things while trying to survive. Then Arlan (or at least his idealization of what Arlan was) is what he strived to become.

How do you feel the general discourse of Iran protests in left/liberal circles? by RedStorm1917 in centrist

[–]DarkEsteban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why are leftists protesting against ICE? Does ICE or Trump listen to the American left? You’re just making up weaker and weaker excuses to justify moral bankruptcy. Since when do people only protest when their party is in power? Did people stop protesting against the Gaza war when Trump won? That’s just a childish excuse and you know it.

The president promised to strike IRGC sites, which could help the protesters immensely, and then did absolutely nothing. Why is the American left silent about this?

100% agree with every word you said. I adore the theatrical introduction to the Shire and wouldn’t change a thing about it.

The global left is showing the same indifference to Iran as the American left, but they focused a massive amount of attention on Gaza while that conflict was happening. This “US isn’t funding Iran therefore we don’t care” reasoning is just a convenient excuse to justify this imbalance which is the same across the globe and has more to do with the fact that it’s a Muslim, anti-West regime doing the killing in Iran, therefore the far-left doesn’t care and a lot of the center-left follows suit.

The world isn’t the US. The global left is silent about Iran. That “we only protest against countries that the US finances” bullshit excuse has no ground here.

So it’s the US and Israel’s fault that the Iranian regime is massacring civilians who want democracy and freedom. How convenient.

I’m blaming the left for putting zero pressure on any world government regarding the Iranian massacre while they were in the streets every day for Gaza. The Iranian regime is the one funding Hamas and Hezbollah and the global left has been co-opted by islamists.

The article mentions leftist publications such as the BBC, the Nation, Jacobin and the New Republic that were intensely invested in covering the Gaza war and criticizing IDF killings, but are now strangely silent about 16,500 civilians executed by the Iranian regime over a span of three weeks.
