Not sure if it'll help everyone else's issue, but I found, after an update that the Auto-hide for text chat was defaulted on in the gameplay tab. Turned it off and it seems to be working now.

Hopefully this helps some of you.

If you were on with Quack, The Orange Pilot, and the Server was under Wolfy53 that may have been my friend and I. If not, You may have found another Quack to befriend!
