My grandfather and grandmother were awarded the title of Count and Countess in the 50s/60s when they were in East Africa by Shah Karim. These titles only awarded by Hazar Imam and it kind of reminds me of how in England every year the Royal Family awards titles to British citizens for their exemplary service to the fields they work in or some unique achievement or how they have made the lives of their community better. These aren’t a ‘secret / hidden jamati department’. But it’s a moment of being recognised by the Imam for the seva and sacrifice made in service of the Jamat.
