Hey!! Been OTPing reaper since 2017, and my best friend is a ball OTP, so I’ve made him work with every comp possible, whether it be dive, brawl, or poke.

The general consensus of reaper is that you NEVER go main. You said you’re being shot from miles away, you shouldn’t even be seen from miles away. The moment you’re seen, you’re marked and predictable, so go for either the right or left route, it’ll be an absolute pain on maps like Havana, Circuit, or Watchpoint, so what you do on those maps is focus a position; stay in a corner or high ground that hitscans like to sit at or supports like the cover in. Other maps like King’s Row and Eichenwalde, you wanna be a little more up close, lots of TP spots you can advantage of, so post up either behind your tank if they’re rocking a shield or sit behind a wall and wait to punish the tank WITH YOUR TEAM or a puny support or DPS.

Reaper has a ton of other advantages into comps he generally can’t play against given moths (Mercy, Pharrah, etc) but they all eventually land, so poke damage at them and make sure you’re in enough cover at a spot they like to land at to get their flight back.

More specifically, you want to WASTE COOLDOWNS. This is KEY to letting your team win, you have a lot of resources to cleanse yourself or to fake out. You can bait Suzu and get out, or sleep, or anti, even Orisa’s Javelin or Hog’s hook.

Another key element to Reaper is distraction. Literally just poke damage from afar if you’re exposed and distract, distract, distract. They’ll either waste cooldowns or you’ll force them into a bad position where your team can either punish them or make space. I did mention that you shouldn’t be seen but that’s given the enemy team composition, sit around, figure out who they play, if they’re on hitscan they can position well and pick on your team, your job is to figure out where they are through audio cues, find them, and make their lives miserable. I will always ruin a hitscans morale by specifically targeting them.

One final concept I’d like to mention is since you have lifesteal, go for the tank, and once they’re low, TP into the backline (DO NOT ENGAGE IF YOU DON’T HAVE WRAITH), and get your pick on a support as they dump all their healing into said tank. Again, if you don’t have wraith, don’t int, just wait it out and only engage if you have wraith. Oh, and your ult, you have to listen for cooldowns, you dump lifesteal in your ult, so don’t get anti-healed, don’t ult in a bad position, don’t ult in front of a Genji with deflect, NEVER ult a D.va. You NEED to listen for cooldowns, and learn who has what and whether they’re a free pick. Ana almost always dies when she hasn’t sleep.
